Would not be shocked at all to hear Malone drops Tennessee altogether. I am sure the kid wants to play early and with us stacking highly rated Juco WRs, I think there would be a good chance he would not play early here. You don't take Juco's unless they will see the field day 1. Jackson, Lauderdale, Croom, Harris, North, and others. I get Malone is a great talent and is highly rated. You can only play so many kids at a time. With 17-18 WRs on the roster for 2014, I think the numbers would make other schools more attractive. JMO

Call me crazy but I still want this kid. If we get him back on campus we still have a shot. If he wants to go elsewhere so be it. But our coaches will pursue if they still want him too. We all thought McDowell was going somewhere else.

Hard to imagine an in-state kid not wanting to come to UT, especially right now with how sick our class is. Better jump on board now if you want to enjoy the ride back up

What did he do for the Vols? Exactly my point! :)

Had a very good FR yr backing up a future NFL running back.If not for his crazy ass Dad he would have started his Soph year and we wouldnt have had to see Poole and his grass monster enemies.

Oh well, take Booth and call it day at WR. Will make watching Hurd run through the Station Camp D that much sweeter.

Agreed. Booth, Jackson, Creamer, Lauderdale, Wharton and I'm guessing Powell at slot makes one helluva WR class plus 2 of the top TE's in the class and the guys on campus leaves our QB's with alot of potential.

Maybe everyone should stop writing him off and badmouthing the guy just because of an article's speculation.

Cheezus Rice

Has nothing to do with article speculation. Nobody is badmouthing the kid, our class will be fine without him and we have alot of talented WR's committed that are just as good as Malone.

Richt must be pulling out the $$$$$, which will catch up to him.. notice Hugh freeze must of ran out of money considering he hasnt got much this class

Richt hasnt ever been known as a dirty recruiter or shady guy like Freeze. Its very easy to get guys to UGA. Not sure where you got this info.

1 Marquez North > 3 Josh Malones.

North does everything and he does it well. He's bigger, faster, stronger, and way more dynamic. Let this kid go elsewhere. We've got just the guy we need.

If you good, you're gonna play early and be effective with other solid players. you saw how productive ZRo got with CP, JHunter, Rivera. Malone can definitely help solidify the WRU core.

False. A few days before he committed there was an article saying he liked us because we'd let him play baseball. Right when that was posted I said we lead. Just because you didn't think he was coming here, doesn't mean all of VN did.

As for Malone, if he considers us cool. If not, oh well. He's a good prospect, but he's no make or break prospect partially because we do have a strong class going. In hindsight North was a make or break guy from last year. Knowing we struck out on Lawson, Henry, Green, Bell, Johnson, Levenberry (who were all 5* or AA guys), we had to get one guy who could immediately contribute.

We need quality in state guys like Malone, but luckily we already have a lot of them in this class, so it's not as big of a hit as all the ones we lost under Fooley. Also, while we always want playmaker WRs, we really need big uglies on the line, both sides.

These guys aren't mutually exclusive. It would be great to get both. I'm a little nervous about North giving his focus on positions other than WR during his senior year. Hopefully he can get caught up to speed before the season begins.

.

Just because you read an article and thought we led for Mcdowell doesn't mean everyone on VN did. It goes both ways man.

Baseball was a factor, but not the most important reason he chose to play on Rocky Top.

I never said my opinion represented us all like he did. I never implied it didn't go both ways.

I think baseball was a large factor, as well as a school he felt comfortable with. If you listened to his interview on TSR he said he watched UT baseball games last year (IMO because he knew he could play both at UT). From everything I've heard we were the only school to say we'd give him a shot at baseball as well.

Lauderdale more than takes up missing on Malone plus Booth in a few days. We will be fine without Malone.

Couldn't agree more. I happen to think we already have some very talented WRs currently on the roster (Croom, Harris, North et al). When you add our current commits, particularly Lauderdale and then Booth, in my mind we're done. Hate to not get Malone but it doesn't look like its in the cards.... of course I thought McDowell was no longer a possibility.

Either way, I think we're good at WR when we add Booth, just need to develop what we have for now and then recruit the position hard for 2015 class to keep em coming.

Why don't we at least let the guy make his own picks before we start with the...we don't need him...he's not that good anyway stuff.

I hear you. I never said he's not good enough, because its not true IMO. He's a solid looking possession WR

OddFuture, are you on summer break, or do you have a seriously awesome job? Bc you have more time than anyone I know to provide insightful posts on this board haha.

He's definitely good enough, he's a freakin stud. Would love to have the kid. Just don't think we're gonna get him and all isn't lost if we don't. Current crop plus Lauderdale and Booth makes for a very nice haul IMHO.
