'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

I'm sorry I would take Malone over any of our current WR commits and other targets at that position he is that good IMO.

I think once he sees how many receivers get on the field and are going to make plays in this offense this season I think that it will only help our chances.

I would take Booth now. I would let Lauderdale know we want him in this class and IF Malone decides to be a VOL closer to NSD, we take him. Not taking a QB, and sticking with the grey shirt for Dews, numbers would be fine.

Couldn't agree more. I feel like a lot of people on this board are sleeping on Booth. He's a talented player with a chip on his shoulder who really wants to be a Vol. Combing those attributes usually leads to a strong competitor and a great player.

If the UT coaches make another play for a WR other than Booth, Lauderdale, or Malone, and I were Booth I would walk away. He has waited long enough and it's time to take him or tell him no thanks. If Malone or Lauderdale are concerned with the staff taking Booth, they don't need to be a VOL anyway IMO. The kid is sitting off to the side in all the commitment pictures just waiting to be considered part of the group. Either do it or let him go somewhere they want him. JMO

I'm not a big fan of us slow playing him either, of course there could also be many details that are only know to Booth and the coaching staff. Honestly I think he'll show out wherever he goes, he may not be the fastest but he is very disciplined as far as knowing how to play his position, especially for someone in high school.

A couple people on VQ are saying Malone is just a "camp stud". Fortenberry's opinion...

"Have you seen him play? I've seen him live multiple times and the kid just isn't some 'camp stud.'

He and Ermon Lane are the two best receivers I've seen in this class."

"There's no doubt it's a different game once the pads come, but that doesn't mean 7-on-7s count for nothing. Yes, he's obviously excelled at the camps, but that doesn't mean he can't play when the pads do come off. Malone is thicker than Justin Hunter was his freshman year and it didn't take him 2 years to be able to get off SEC caliber corners.

He'll probably weigh 195 pounds pound by the time he arrives in college in January and that's bigger than Hunter ever was at Tennessee.

He's not the athlete Hunter was and I'm not saying that, but just saying in terms of being big and strong, Hunter was as skinny as they come and he made an impact his first year."

Brown was a very good receiver and a good guy overall. He was definitely a fan favorite. What hurt Brown was his inability to stay healthy. He missed games every year due to injuries and played in many games while dealing with injuries. Brown was a team guy who was liked and respected by the coaches and the players.

Bust city

To be fair to him, he was kicked off for weed. He was never a concern to qualify so you can't really insult his brains.

He failed multiple drug tests. After the first one and you don't stop, it is not the most intelligent thing to continue smoking knowing the consequences

That's a good point but I still don't think he deserves to be called stupid for it. You can say whatever about his judgement and attitude but he never failed any classes so he isn't stupid.
