Seriously, it's unreal how the schedule has been set up against this team. No reason it should be like that. This playoff system is going to be so much better for college football. It's time to separate the pretenders from the real championship caliber teams.
4 team playoff will only help those 1 loss teams, but I agree. The SEC office needs to examine UGAs cake walk every year instead of killing us.
Yeah, I'm not really sure what they could do about it though. It's proven to be very cyclical in nature, and by trying to proactively mess with the schedule you could very well mess that up an give somebody the short end of the stick for an extended period of time. For example when Bama was down we had some years where our western conference opponents were not very impressive. 2003 in particular featured a 4 win Alabama team, a 2 win Mississippi State team, and a 7-5 Auburn team.
Unfortunately with how it's currently configured Georgia has the perennial long end of the stick. That's messed up
Not really. They've got Auburn as their permanent cross division rival who has been down the past couple of years, but there is too much talent in that state for them to be kept down for long. Then they rotate through the other opponents, for example they have to play at LSU this year. I mean yes, they have had an easier schedule these past couple of years though. This year with them playing Clemson nonconference and LSU as one of their west division opponents they will have one of the tougher schedules.
Yes.
But to be clear, most of these kids will be making business decisions (ala Bell) - they can put aside their fandom and choose a school based on their long term goals - NFL/Championships/etc.
Sadly, just being a fan of UT and growing up liking the Vols isn't enough anymore.
I'm saying these kids have seen Tennessee as a 5-7 team for 2 straight years. That's why they are apprehensive about just committing.
They just watched Auburn go 3-9 and they still loaded up again even through a coaching change.
I know they won a ship 3 years ago, so that may be different. But still..a 3-9 season didn't hurt them much.
