They just watched Auburn go 3-9 and they still loaded up again even through a coaching change.
I know they won a ship 3 years ago, so that may be different. But still..a 3-9 season didn't hurt them much.
"Really, it's all of them. Coach Thigpen, Coach Jones, I basically talk to all of them every time I call one of them. It's definitely a different vibe up there," Malone, who indicated he expected to check out one of the Vols' spring practices, explained. "It's just the way all the players are moving around. They've got a little swagger going on. It's definitely a different atmosphere."
"Right when you walked into the facility," he said. "You walked in and see everybody around, right when you walked in it was just a whole entirely different energy. Right when you walk onto that 100-yard indoor field, you just feel an entirely different energy than before."
"I'm a legit 190, and it's going to help me out a lot more because I can use my weight more and be more physical coming off the ball," he said. "I can use my weight more and get leverage. It feels good at this weight. Hopefully I can pick up more when I get to college and play at around 200."

Having won a national title in the last few years helped Auburn. Having consistently been a contender during the last 5 years helped Auburn.
And you can't ignore the fact that Gus was a member of that staff only a year ago, and probably already had relationships with many of the players who ultimately signed with Auburn this year. That makes a huge differences.
Comparing us to Auburn is apples and oranges. I think we should be compared to Ole Miss, based on our track record in recent years.
And I like the model Ole Miss developed this past year...
There have been rumors thst we lead for Malone, and then rumors to the contrary, and that he likes Florida.
Anyone care to clear the air on this? Are we sitting pretty?
I don't know why people are so confident in Gaulden. That guy loves James Franklin. It's possible to get him, but Vandy leads right now.
He may love Franklin but with the influx of kids heading to the hill and the program looking like it's on the upswing...there's only so much Franklin can do. Look at the facilities he would practice/play in with some other in-state guys that he has probably been playing with/against since jr. ball. Franklin is going to be hard pressed to win any significant recruiting battles against Butchy.
