It's one thing to allege that it happened, its another to actually prove that it happened. You're not going to convince a judge that Dooley was breaching his contract b/c he didn't pursue certain recruits--

It wasn't just Bell or Hurd. Dooley would not go watch ANY recruit play. He said that if he saw one he would have to see them all. Instead he spent Friday nights at home with his family. I don't think you could win a lawsuit based on that but if you are the AD and a coach has that attitude then you should have put him on notice. Anyone who does that sort of thing is simply not cut out to be a college football coach.

I said when Dooley was here that he offered no value added as a recruiter. We basically got the recruits our stature as a program (with the facilities we have and history we have) would have gotten us no matter who the coach was.

I have only followed recruiting the last few years. Just curious if anyone knows how Hurd stacks up against other players out of Tennessee. Is he the highest ranked player to ever come out of the state? I forget where Ramsey was was in the final rankings. Not a star gazer BTW

Just looking back through the rivals top 250 (which is only going back to 2006 for some reason even though they have player profiles back to 2002) Jalen Ramsey is the highest ever from he state of Tennessee at 10.

Think I read where 247 rated Hurd #11 (up from 47 at beginning of 2012 season)

I thought may be him. I feel like there is more talent in Tennessee this year than there has been since I've started following recruiting. Hopefully Butch can build that fence. I feel pretty good about most of our in-state targets except Bars

There is, and it will keep getting better. Hopefully this coach can haul them in.

Patrick Turner was ranked #2 overall nationally by Rivals.com for the 2005 class. He was a WR from Goodpasture, TN that ultimately signed with USC.

This. We need a running back bad. We have had some good ones in-state the past few years and not landed a single one. Maybe that will change with the best one

I think it will. Jalen will tear it up this year, and break the top 10 IMO, and be the best the state has produced. Will be monumental to pull him to the orange.

After seeing this never mind, but Jalen will still be top ten. Jmo.

Thanks :hi:. Figures there would be somebody 1 year before the earliest date the pulldown menu on the rivals 250 was letting me go.

I thought Gerald Riggs Jr, from Red Bank, was the #1 running back in the country when he committed to UT. I cant remember what year that was. (early 2000's?)

Sickening. He obviously didn't turn out to be that good. Still though. Sickening

I remember him...barely. Went out to USC and was pretty much a bust.

I would be shocked if the preacher of long hollow has not or does not make contact with jalen about wanting him to be a vol. the preacher holds ALOT of weight in the area and is very respected and is a huge vols fan with ties to fulmer etc. Long hollow is five hundred feet from beech and has a congregation of about 9000 and the preacher is a true Vfl.

I attend LH, went to Beech, and know Jalen. He's getting plenty of pressure from everywhere to give the Vols a strong look, trust me.

The youth pastor (one of them) is the former team chaplain under Fulmer and his son is currently in school and involved with the FB team. His other son plays on the HS team with Jalen.

As I said, Jalen is hearing plenty about the Vols, but we need to show some progress this fall.

He's got a lot of people in his ear about UT. My family included. But theres one pastor at LH who was a former chaplin for the UT team during the Fulmer years. But I doubt he is saying anything to Hurd. Specific people aside.. The community as a whole is encouraging Hurd (and Malone) to be in orange. But that can backfire sometimes. We'll see how it plays out.
