'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

If it's a business decision then I think he sticks with Tennessee. You dont go to a school as a JUCO, with only 2 years of eligibility remaining when they have what is it... all 4 of their starting defensive lineman returning next year? That is extremely risky for a JUCO player.

Wasn't one of his criteria for choosing UT because of the chance that he would start right away? Looks like at Auburn that wouldn't happen.

Depends on how trusting he is. I'm sure Garner will promise him a good spot in the rotation. Whether that will actually happen is much more up in the air at AU than here, and hopefully he sees that regardless of the sales pitch.

I cannot believe you goofballs are listening to any Auburn mods on recruiting info. I have yet to find a recruit that isn't an Auburn lean or likely Auburn signee

Are you implying that the AU mods are completely making up the in home visit, because that's really all that's being talked about. They write everything with a huge slant, but that's not the issue here. Regardless of what the AU mods put out there, it makes me raise an eyebrow when a commit lets another team's coaching staff come for an in home visit so close to their enrollment date.

We all know how the Auburn mods are and how they think they lead for everyone in the nation.

We also know Auburn's history when it comes to doing all it can to land recruits and not thining twice about breaking the rules if need be.

For me it simply comes down to the fact that a Tennessee commitment is letting Auburn coaches in his home this late. He could have told them no and if he was solid to Tennessee he likely would have.

Anyone who thinks he cant be swayed is kidding theirself.

He's not seeing Auburn on the eve of the dead period if he's 100% committed to UT.

Well put and To add to that it's the 2nd in home for auburn in as many weeks.

Everyone's different. Some people have a harder time saying "no." I'm not that worried based on some of the more recent quotes from VQ.

Having a hard time telling people no can go both ways. Telling VQ the truth could be the problem just like telling auburn the truth could be as well

Even if he was just too nice to tell them no, they're still going to be there for a long time telling him all the things he wants to hear, promising him the world, and who knows what else. I just hope he can see through all their bull and realize that he's pretty much a guarunteed instant starter here, and despite all the great things Garner is telling him there will be a LOT more competition for playing time at AU.

This is the life of recruiting. Some kids you gotta fight for until the ink is dry. Butch knows this and will do what it takes to get the signature on the 18th.

I should clarify another reason I'm not worried. Butch has proven to win the in-homes and he still has one left with Davonte. If the only in-homes going on right now were with Auburn, I'd be worried. With us sending in the reinforcements, nothing to see here, IMO.

I like your optimism. Maybe I just need to work harder to clean the Dooley out of my system. I'll be worried until this one is over though since AU has burned us with recruits so many times.

The bright side is at least big-time programs are coming after our recruits. That says a lot IMO about the class Butch and his staff have put together.

You look at Kentucky's recruiting class for example and their 4-stars and virtually nobody is going after those guys or trying to flip them. A 2-10 team where flipping a guy wouldn't be that tall of an order yet nobody is bothering. The one OG from FL has been the only one and they've all but lost him. It was pretty similar with a lot of the 4-stars Dooley recruited. Sure they were rated fairly high but for the most part none of the top programs wanted any of those guys.

I agree with this. But lucky for us, there is a new sheriff in town and Butch knows how to close with these recruits. He has won and will win a lot of battles for the elite talent. No doubt in my mind.

I posted something similar yesterday and how visits effects the final outcome on recruits like lambert.

Without lambert visiting auburn and allowing auburn into his home twice he was as close to a 100 %?get as one can be.

Now with these visits those chances go down. How much is all opinion but there is no denying the chances go down this ends well.

IMO we still have a great shot to win this one. 90% but I would prefer it to lock solid done.

"Jones will also see defensive lineman Davonte Lambert later in the week, who's made it clear to Volquest that he's solid to Tennessee."

- VQ

Lambert has singed his financial aid package, so the staff can continue to contact him and see him in person as often as needed during the Dead Period. Auburn can not.

Tennessee will see him later in the week. There doesn't seem to much concern about losing Lambert to Auburn. He continues to tell us he's solid.

jones will see davonte lambert before the end of the week

"look for jones to be on the road plenty over the next couple of days before the start of the quiet period at midnight sunday morning. On saturday, he’s scheduled to make his in-home visit with four-star defensive lineman davonte lambert, who continues to hear plenty from auburn leading up to the start of the early junior-college signing period wednesday.

While lambert remains committed to tennessee, there have been some conflicting reports regarding exactly where things stand in his recruitment.
Sources close to auburn indicated last week that the tigers were hopeful they could steal lambert from the vols, although he publicly refuted a report suggesting he already had flipped to auburn. But the tigers now seem to be increasingly optimistic about their chances.

Lambert and his family, meanwhile, have continued to indicate that he’s firmly committed to tennessee. But this isn’t the first time schools have received mixed signals from lambert. Because of that, it’s tough to tell where things stand with him at the moment, but it’s safe to say he at least has some interest in auburn. The situation certainly bears worth watching over the next several days."

TIFWIW, but reasons I'm not worried. He's listening, but both sides are talking. We won him in the first place, we'll win in the end.

I wonder if Davonte was pretty much set and done. And then garner got mom and grandma's ear and convinced them to get Davonte to at least just let them talk to him.

I hope not, considering mom and grandma were given a lot of credit for signing off on Tennessee.
