'14 IN SG Jaquan Lyle

You expect to get them but when we don't you have your excuse all ready for why we didn't.

Lmao how is it excuses when there are legit reasons. Austin Nichols is one we could have excuses. He didn't want to disappoint his family and not please his mother. JaQuan Lyle had a strong relationship with Pitino plus a championship season and the want to play with other great guards. Those are legit reasons not excuses.

I don't think you'll see Martin land 5* from outside Tennessee until he has some NCAA tournament trips under his belt. It's hard to land a guy like Lyle, who has no connection to Tennessee when you're a NIT coach recruiting against the defending national champs, c'mon man.

It's impressive that Tennesee made the final four over some of the schools that they did to be honest with you. However, it's probably not realistic to expect us to land 5* guys from out of state until we have made the dance at least.

Looks like Martin went all in on Lyle can't work harder on a guy than he did hopefully we get one of the four star guys. I still don't understand the deal with Richmond some say he was ready to commit and we refused to accept and others say he didn't commit. He was once listed in 247 as a Tennessee commit no longer is that true. Overall I appreciate the recruiting job CCM is doing and will be satisfied with the class if we get London, Hurt, and anyone of the combo or point guards still on the board.

No doubt that CCM worked very hard to get Lyle he put so much time and effort in really had fans believing he could close the deal. I knew what he was up against and had always said in the end Louisville would win. I agree with others very tough to get the highest rated players that live out of state. Hopefully London, Hurt and one of the 2G, SF guys will come to Tennessee if that happens everyone should be proud of the 2014 class and CCM'S efforts.

I'm gonna be honest, you continue to post false stuff to the point it almost seems your trolling. I'm sure that's not the case, but you're really off base with some of your info.

No he didn't, there's a difference between a guy bring at the top of your board and going all in. We offered and recruited other PGs besides Lyle, Austin Nichols is a guy we went all in on.

Richmond has grade issues, so Martin didn't take his commitment. Why take a guy who isn't gonna be able to get into school? Richmond was never listed as a commitment, a few 247 guys PREDICTED he was gonna commit to Tennessee, but he was never listed as commitment.

Wow. That's what you took from my post? I'm not even sure how to respond.

All I was saying, is you (and most Tennessee fans) see Tennessee and Coach Martin through the rose-colored glasses of a fan. You, either consciously or otherwise, choose to highlight his good points and minimize the bad. A recruit with no obvious ties to the University of Tennessee isn't going to operate in that manner. He will take a much less emotional approach at judging the tangible things for himself. Things like location, success, experience, ability to get drafted, exposure, etc. Those are all things that Pitino, like it or not, dwarfs Martin in when it comes to resumés. He may be sleazy and unethical, but his good outweighs his bad (which in Pitino's case is mostly isolated to his own character damage, and not the school's).

So, did Martin waste the last four years? No. He likely built good relationships and inroads in southern Indiana. He likely learned some lessons along the way that he takes to the next kid's living room. He likely learned that it pays to have options (Mitchell and Richmond). He likely learned that just because you think you think you present the best opportunity for the kid, it doesn't mean you'll get him. Most importantly, hopefully he learned he better start showing he can get it done when it matters.

Glad you don't think he wasted those years proud of CCM the way he worked for Lyle. I am also proud he is working hard for Looney. He has to stay in focus however and must get guys we have well over a fifty percent chance to recruit. I am now looking for London, Hurt, and a guard to fill out this class. That would be a great 2014 class. CCM has the team in 2013-14 to put Tennessee back into the National spotlight. If he can get the three players I suggested he has laid great groundwork for future years of success.

I think spending four years two at another school recruiting Lyle is going all in. Lyle even said he heard from Webster everyday. Predicted is what I meant even though he tried to commit and I agree if grades are bad pass.

It's called recruiting.

Well I don't consider it all in...that means all or nothing, if we get a good PG then clearly it wasn't all or nothing (like with Nichols).

I'll agree with you if we get a point guard which is still to be determined. Most of the guys we are in with are mostly two guard types. If we don't get a four star point guard then I'll think we spent to much time on Lyle. I'm expecting Coleman to Auburn, Joseph to Syracuse, Mitchell seems to be the man we need to obtain a commitment from for that position.

You realize Lyle was more of a 2 than say Mitchell or Richmond right? So saying if we don't get a true PG it means we were all in on Lyle is idiotic. Lyle is a combo, just like Mitchell is.

Exactly and when you lose at recruiting you lose on the court. We'll see if we had a backup plan.

That quite possibly is the dumbest post in VN history. There's one coach who wins more recruiting battles than he loses, John Calipari. The rest of NCAA coaches are batting under .500, or as you put it, losing at recruiting.

Pretty much how I feel when Volfan2012 posts...

What happened in the game? I know I saw the game, I never miss the Titans, but I can't remember what that was about.

It's the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was probably the last five years of frustration lol

Knowing the Jaguars, it was 3rd and goal and they probably tied their fate to the trusted arm of Blaine Gabbert three straight times rather than punch it up the gut with MJD. Gabbert likely took a ten yard loss on a sack on 3rd down or threw it directly in the arms of a Titans defender.

Pat Forde reported a decommitment from Louisville, but it was pulled off the internet.

Evan Daniels got a text that said Lyle was still a Card, "at this time."

Just received a text from JaQuan Lyle. He said at this time he is still a Louisville commit.

Worth keeping an eye on.
