Georgia and Alabama did offer Turman, but he was a backup option for both (both are recruiting Jakeenan Gant and William Lee hard).

JaKeenan Gant is unlikely to end up at either school and I would have to think both realize that...Mark Fox ESPECIALLY is in no position to be "waiting" on recruits.

I count 2 spots and that's with no attrition, which given their roster he would be a fool to turn down Turman over some of the guys they have.
They'll only have one senior this season, Donte Williams (Marcus Thornton will be a RS JR). They're recruiting like they're going to sign two, though (a guard and a big). I'm not saying they wouldn't take Turman, but he wasn't a priority for them.

Especially a Miss State without Stansbury. Wasn't much of a coach, but he could recruit.

I didn't have any idea who was coaching Houston until I looked it up. James Dickey - who bears an unnerving resemblance to Harry Reid - is there. Coached at Texas Tech for several years to middling success, which he has repeated at Houston.

That is an odd trio. Can't imagine Turman would wait too long to pull that trigger. The Tennessee program should look like the Lakers next to those two.
Mississippi State is definitely recruiting at a mid-major level right now... The best prospects Ray has brought in so far are football recruits.

Oh ok. Well in that context he wasn't a priority for Tennessee either, but things aren't looking great for Hurt so they seem to be stepping up their efforts on Turman. We'll see who Georgia ends up with for a big, but I have a feeling it won't be someone ranked higher than Turman.

I wouldn't doubt that. Fox has pretty much been a disaster on the recruiting trail thus far.

So the answer was yes, I mean Ray deserves SOME credit for those guys IMO.
Stansbury did most of the work getting those guys to commit and sign. Ray just had to convince them to honor their commitments (which probably wasn't too hard considering the amount of playing time he could promise them after the exodus of transfers post-Stansbury). He deserves some credit for them, but I wouldn't call them his recruits.

His first two actual classes haven't been impressive. At all.

So, what are our chances for this kid? Seems like a solid Big man that we need with Maymon and potentially Stokes departing.

I like this kid. Looks to be a little underrated. Of course looking at a highlight video it's hard to see if he's in shape, has a good motor, etc.

Good size and strength. Could be a good replacement for Mamon.

“@JustinDYoung: Man child center CJ Turman of Morgan Co. (GA) will take an unofficial visit to Tennessee this weekend, per his HS coach.”

I wouldn't be shocked to see a commitment fwiw
