RL on if he may commit:

"I don't have a strong feeling on it but wouldn't rule it out. He told me in July that he wanted to wait until the spring to sign, but he also struck me as the type of young man who might change his mind."

@JustinDYoung: 2015 PG Tookie Brown of Morgan Co (GA) will join teammate CJ Turman on an unofficial visit to Tennessee this weekend, per his coach.

Looks like Gunter just predicted yesterday. Did something happen to cause that? Or was yesterday just the day he decided to go out on a limb/guess?

This is JMO: It was done by design in case he commits over the weekend. 247 can say they predicted it. They don't know anything, just protecting themselves against him committing. They had no predictions for Turman and he is visiting UT. They know he won't commit to MSU while he's on a visit here, so they hedge their bets.

I don't know why but that crystal ball bugs the crap out of me. It's a joke and all it does is ruin the kid's announcement.

You're exactly right. He's taking a visit to one of the schools he named in his top 3, so obviously there's a chance he'll commit, as I've said. So 247 as you said is basically hedging their bets and covering their butts in case he were to commit.

At first I liked the general concept, but honestly it lately has just shown that these analysts really aren't much better than a typical fan who reads message boards. They follow the tide of someone, good case would be Tadric Jackson. A week before his commitment there were around 10 predictions and they were all for UGA. 2 days before 1 guy out of GA picks GT, and within the next 48 hours leading up to his announcement there ended up being about 30 predictions for GT which is where he ultimately ended up picking. As you said this does obviously somewhat ruin a kids announcement, heck how much suspense was there for Austin's announcement, but that's just the society we live in today I suppose.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't stick their chest out afterwards, bragging about being 100% right. It's ridiculous.

You guys bring up a good point. Crystal ball is pretty sh!tty from the recruit's perspective.

Here's my suggestion for the crystal ball to 1. Make it a bit more challenging for the analysts and 2. To not completely ruin kids announcements.

If a recruit announces that he has set a decision date, say 7 days from today, you have 24 hours to make a pick, and one pick only once he has announced a decision date. After 24 hours that players crystal ball is closed and picks are locked in.

This would keep the analysts from catching word of the recruits pick and making it look like they knew all along, and would also save a little suspense for the kids announcement.

Jmo

They would just amend their pick on Twitter if they couldn't on the site. Social media has ruined the surprise anymore in most cases.
