'14 F VA Jabari McGhee (UT commit 5/2/14)

Here's a post of yours today, if he doesn't follow this script then you should be critical....if you don't change your criteria at least...

If he takes Owens next week, and we pull Cofer's offer, that deserves criticism IMO. Cofer is better than McGhee, no?

You don't know all the ins/outs of Cofer. Maybe Cofer isn't worth waiting around on in Tyndall's opinion. Maybe Cofer doesn't want to play for Tyndall.

If he takes 6 freshman the caliber of McGhee, then yeah, I'll be critical.

He's not going to do that though.

Complete pass on year 1. He's got half a roster and there's not that many good players to get in on.

I'll judge him on the coming years and who he takes and when he takes them. Something tells me he won't be taking a kid averaging 11 points for his high school team in August of the kid's senior season.

I'm done hijacking this thread arguing with you. I'm sure the board will be grateful for me bowing out.

As I've said I'm fine with this take, hopefully he starts recruiting top 100 guys like he said he was gonna.

How possible is that this year? How many are left on the board that do not fall into the Thug category or grades that fit his system.

Just Asking.

Dear God in Heaven, people...

Is your Internet cred this important? It's like listening to the married couple in the next apartment having the same argument night after night.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention but I think Tyndall and staff have offered quite a few top 100 guys in '15 and '16. There don't seem to be too many top 100 guys left in '14 but I know they have offered a couple of the ones that are remaining.

Maybe if you're boy didn't leave us a roster void of post players we wouldn't have to sign a 250 type player that just became the best rebounder on our roster.

Nice!

You can offer 150 of the top 150 players, in the brand scheme WTF does that mean? Lol

And there's at minimum 20 players with better offer lists than McGhee available, if Tyndall is trusting his evaluation that's fine, but people acting like he was the best thing available is funny.

Pot meet kettle.

I don't understand everyone's excitement. We beat out Florida Gulf Coast and Western Kentucky. Are those really the schools we want to be poaching from that will "lead this team" into relevance?

You conveniently left out Georgia, South Carolina and Auburn, all SEC teams, all who offered.

Edit: add Ole Miss and Ga Tech

So? bTo is a Cuonzo Martin fan and not a Tennessee fan? He defended every decision made by the program when CM was the coach but now downplays and/or attacks every decision made by the program.

I was impressed that you were such an optimistic fan. What happened?

So, Charlie Sheen has Tiger blood and you now have Golden Bear blood? Keep stirring the pot, it makes the board more interesting.

Lol...such a convenient tactic to play the sarcasm card when you try (and fail) to nail someone on a grammatical error and make one yourself.

Just admit you goofed...actually, I don't even care.

You don't have to be right all the time. It's actually a pretty admirable quality to be able to admit when you're wrong.

Which I've done more than once, I can't help that your sarcasm meter is broke, surely there's a wal-mart close by.

While I think McGhee will turn out to be a pretty decent player, there definitely appears to be a double standard going on. This guy compares to Derek Reese in terms of offer list, but is being talked about as if he's a top 150 guy.
"Reese chose the Vols over division one programs Boston College, Wake Forest and Ole Miss, as well as smaller schools James Madison, Central Florida and Georgia Southern, according to the Orlando Sentinel."

Reese will excel under this defense. He has decent speed/quickness for being 6'8, remember when we were pressing the few time we did? I remember Reese getting multiple turnovers off the press.

Older post I get it, but you're right people are thinking Jabari is the next Jabari Parker haha. Still a solid grab

JMO, but those are two words I wouldn't associate with Reese. McGhee seems much quicker and explosive. Not knocking Reese either.

I agree. Reese seems very labored in his movements. His shot, passes, drives all feel like they take forever to complete.

Pretty easy tie in. Certain fans apparently find reasons to be unhappy regardless of what happens with our basketball team. Coach wins 20 games and takes the team to the sweet 16, sign a petition to replace him with a guy who got us on sanctions to begin with. New coach comes in with very little time left on the clock to recruit players. Gets a commit. Fans crap all over the commit because he's not a 5 star McDonald's all American. Basically it shows a lack of intelligence and understanding of how recruiting, an athletic department, finances, and pretty much any other area in life works.

I thought you were talking about me when you were referring to "boobcat" :hi:
