'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

You know, BB, with your penultimate knowledge of recruiting and ability to evaluate elite talent--why don't you get a job for some SEC university as a coach or recruiting coordinator? Then, maybe we could watch you fail, and throw shots at you in public when you do--

Please give CDD a break. He's 2.5 years into a trainwreck--and has lost some of his best players hurt on D this year just like last year on offense. He landed hunter, CP, Tiny, Peterman, AJ, Maggitt, McCullers, Sentimore, and some other good DL that are gonna fill holes. We do need to WIN--everyone agrees--but how long does it take to get to Elite?? And, just who is elite in the SEC East anyway? We were in it against Fla, and had a shot at UGA, who may be the SEC East champ...that margin is small, and you can't even get hired to walk it.....so you're just another talking head on a message board who's opinion means squat--just like mine!

LOL @ this post. You think Dooley is building something "elite"? HAHA

You're so funny guy. You definitely don't really read a lot of my posts because I've been one of Dooley's biggest supporters for 2.5 years. The Miss. State and Bama games did it for me. I've provided my thoughts on what I want to go on and it is what it is.

SN: as far as the coaching thing parents are contacting me to help train their kids for SEC schools. So I may know a tad bit. :) have a great day sir.

The guy said coaching an SEC team. Not training kids. Big difference. Like I said before imo you r able to evaluate players and have a grasp of Xs and Os but the managerial part of coaching I'd go somewhere else.

I hope you train these kids how to tackle and other fundamentals cause they aren't learning it from thier HS coaches. No matter how much people want to blame cdd and his coaches but bad basic fundimentals is a national epidemic. You should be successful in this venture cause these kids aren't getting taught crap in HS, and now CFB are having to waste thier time teaching it to them. Add an educational arm to your services, and that will make your program more attractive to parents.

I never called myself the head coach of an SEC squad. But I know I'm not just talking out of my behind. That guy MikeVol called out a factual post. Everyone in this forum knows I have backed Dooley so his post is BS. Then he wants to attack me personally for what reason I have no idea. :) I'm past really getting into it on this board over facts.

Tackling is an issue that is tricky. For one I'm not their football coach and I don't want to step on their toes. Then it's kinda hard to do it without pads. Also tackling rules suck these days and I would get so pissed looking at a kid I coached up get flagged for a hard hit. Technique, footwork, speed, and skills are some things I can work on.

I'm working with a few teachers on a few things but that's for the future. But the foundation is there for it already.

What put in bold above is something that upsets me when I see our coaches getting bashed for these kids not being able to tackle or thier fundamentals are bad. Things have changed so much over the last few yrs that now cfb coaches are having to teach kids things that they should be able to do already. Development of these kids are going to take more time and we r being forced to play them younger. I know people call this an excuse but you have seen it yourself. This is why some of us are willing to give it time to develop. I do believe once cdd is given enough time to build a foundation at each area on the field we will be way better off and yes able to compete with the miles and sabans of the world. Takes time to build it all. He has shown it immensely with our current OL play. Is it taking to long?? Who knows. But it does take time IMO.

For goodness sake there is a push in TX to stop children football programs cause of the danger. Yes TEXAS!!!! I blame all the liberal Yankees and west coasters coming in over the last few yrs, but I digress. A while back I was discussing HS football practice with a kid currently playing. I was amazed to hear the difference and the way the get pampered compared to when I was playing HS ball. I'm not that old either. Heck I remember JR ball practices being harder. I don't even want to get started on what I thought when we started to talk about 2 a days. Smh

These coaches are getting paid to evaluate and coach up talent. Our 2nd-3rd year guys can't tackle. Major problem IMO, because it's an effort issue. The mentality that's being sent down from Dooley is? Idk either. Saban, Meyer, Muschamp, and Miles are tough coaches. Their players follow suit. Our players don't seem like they know what's expected of them. Which is a major problem to me.

I understand that they get paid to do it but not to teach them what they should all ready know from HS. It's like telling a mgr that they get paid to teach a kid how to dress to an interview, how to speak proper English, how to do basic math etc. I wish these were bogus made up examples but I have a bunch just like them from personal experience. Current coaches are cut from a different thread, and I'm sure it's difficult to figure out how to teach these kids things they as coaches are constantly wondering what is going on. Evaluation now seems to have a lot of hope these kids are teachable, and I think given time cdd is sjowing he is able to evaluate them better. Building relationships with them and thier families too.

Why recruit a kid to play defense if he can't tackle is my question? We're Tennessee not UT-Martin.

I agree with you. But is it always so easy to find kids that can now adays?? That's what I'm saying. A kid that truly knows how to tackle is becoming more and rare by the yr. the way HS programs are going it is what it is and now cfb coaches are having to burden themselves with the issue This isn't just a Dooley or Tenn issue either. Tackling issues nationwide is an epidemic at big programs not just ut-Martin. Cdd is a good recruiter and has done pretty good about getting ut in with players with the situation he is in. Takes time people are not wanting to give.

Can you guys please relegate this crap to the football thread? Thanks.

Sorry. Just that people that want to have a reasonable discussion have to hide in random threads to get it done.

I was going to make a comparison to the religiously persecuted, but a didn't want to go there. Kind of like the Christians during the time of Jesus putting half the fish in the sand and letting the other person finish it. :whistling:

Don't mind him.....hell we don't have PMs....

Freak - are ya listening? PM would be a huge bonus to one of the best college forums around. Sorry to get off track.

We had them then they turned them off because of the extra server space I think. But I think just giving us an inbox would be fine. That's how sherdog does it's message board.

Yeah have a way to exchange info or set up a meeting place privaetly. So when someone pisses you off you can drive and meet up with them and "work out" your differences.:good!: If we acted like adults and attacked the issues instead of each other people could post in the rite forum and not get ridiculed. That being said I do think the recuiting forum should be about the recruits its filling up with non-sense that should be in the football forum. Any new news on Derrick Green?

Tennessee is still in good shape after the Michigan visit.

i know i read on here somewhere that DG's decision is supposedly coming sometime in November, but has there been any news on that or anything about his recent recruitment?

The guys on VQ like our chances with Derrick, while other people seem to think Michigan is the team to beat. I'll take Hubbs opinion, though.
