'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Just wanted to get some opinions, but if Green were to commit, what type of impact are people expecting his first year? I think he is a great prospect, but I think its unrealistic to think he would have a Lattimore type impact his freshman year. Just my two cents. But wanted to see what others thought

I honestly see a Lattimore impact. This kid has been preparing and working his ass off for 4 years for this. He's as committed to be a great player as anyone I've heard of. He's been a beast since his freshman year of HS. I really believe he'll be a special player. I think the only weakness he may have is his pass catching skills, but I know he's been focusing on improving that this year. Sky's the limit. JMO.

Agree completely.

He would have a Lattimore type impact. He wouldn't have as big a load to carry as Lattimore did his Freshman year so that may make it seem like he isn't as big but the way he can run would definately make a huge impact on this team.

Two guys that have an immediate noticable impact at the RB position next year are Derrick Green and Tyren Jones. IMO, they're the two best out there.

Agree. Three headed monster with Neal, Lane and Green. No gimmicks with the wildcat, just an all-american QB handing off to some upperclassmen RB's and a STUD freshman. A lot of payback being handed out next year.

It's impossible to say no gimmicks if Chaney is OC

Heck I would settle for a bootleg. I know I'm getting crazy now.

It happening haha picture this in 2/3 years...

North out wide right with Croom lined up at TE on the left side, Peterman fakes left to Green and bootlegs right...give em 6!

Personally, I think the OC will benefit from having the run/pass option with Peterman. I have always been biased towards mobile QB's. Tee and Tebow really opened my eyes to those possibilities.

I don't...at all.

Two reasons: Jay Graham and Sam Pittman.

Pittman has done an excellent job at improving the run blocking, which seemed to be non-existent before he got here--and even with losses like Thomas and possibly James, we'll still be very talented on the OL.

Also, look at the job Graham has done in just under 8 months with Neal and the other backs. If Green is an EE, imagine what he could learn from Graham, who's a stickler for teaching the details, over the Spring & Summer?

If Green does decide to come here, I really expect him to make a tremendous impact...and yes, much like Lattimore.

What's really going to be interesting is if/when Peterman takes over the starting QB job....

A mobile but accurate and strong-armed QB + a potentially game-breaking RB = DEADLY.

Lattimore's coach his FR year --> Jay Graham

Green's coach his FR year --> Jay Graham

Look for similar production.

We haven't had a major impact player at RB for awhile and i think green will be one.

but i don't see him having a lattimore impact his freshman year.

I am expecting him to split carries with Neal. And Neal be the starter. I would love for him to prove me wrong but i see neal and lane getting better every game and i think neal in his senior year will be better than green coming in. Neal is very strong and fast and he has alot more expo in the sec. I think he will get to the NFL.
