'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

I guess that is why he is a 4 star kid?? We should have been all over this kid for basketball or football, if nothing else because he is an in-state highly rated recruit. I am not an "expert" in recruiting by no means, but I do believe Corn is going to be better than what we get at RB this year except maybe Ford.

I have already read that he has no interest in UT. Being a Vol fan and native Tennessean, we should make a strong push for any 4* or above player.

Not sure if it's true or not bit, if a kid has made it clear he is not interested in Tennessee, I have no issues at all if the coaches look elsewhere for talent. Wasted time in recruiting is not time well spent.

4-star Corn Elder and his family will sit down on Monday night and discuss his last two visits and where his recruitment stands. They will then decide on a plan for an announcement and when they will sign. I'll hopefully have more insight into the situation later tonight.

I wouldnt say that. Sometimes those guys may not fit into their system, especially offensive type guys.

If Tennessee is recruiting guys of a mold like Jabo Lee it is absurd to completely ignore a top 100 instate athlete in positions of need, DB and RB.
I also think CCM should have given him a harder look on the hardwood, but football first. Kid has skills.

As college football begins its national signing period on Wednesday, one of the Midstate’s top recruits won’t be involved in the initial hoopla.

Ensworth running back Corn Elder — the No. 2 prospect on The Tennessean Dandy Dozen — said Monday he does not intend to sign immediately.

“I’m not going to make my decision on Wednesday,” said Elder, who made an official visit to Georgia Tech over the weekend following a midweek visit to Auburn.

Elder said both schools have offered football scholarships with an opportunity to play basketball as well. Vanderbilt and UCLA have presented similar situations.

Elder also has a football-only scholarship offer from Ohio State and recently received a basketball offer from Purdue.

“Hopefully (I will decide) in the next couple of weeks, but not on Wednesday,” he said.

The basketball coaching staffs at Tennessee and Memphis have shown interest in Elder lately. He said he will not likely entertain any other football offers other than the ones he is already considering.

“I guess it would depend on the school,” he said. “If I liked the school maybe, but as of right now, no.”

Elder has led Ensworth to the last two Division II-AA basketball championships and was named tournament most valuable player. He is averaging 21.2 points this season for the Tigers (17-6, 9-0 DII-A).

He also led the Tigers to three straight DII-AA football titles and is the two-time Mr. Football Back of the Year. Last season he rushed for 2,618 yards and 39 touchdowns.

“I like both football and basketball,” he said. “I don’t know if I’m really ready to give one up. That’s why I’m waiting right now. I’m just taking it day by day.
”

Hope UT football coaches just pass on Corn. Zo should make the play for him. He's too conflicted to invest time into for football.

Statement from 4-star Corn Elder's mother:

"Update: I know signing day is Wednesday, however, Corn is not signing on this day! Corn is still picking up offers and is not ready to make any commitment. This is a big decision and the rest of HIS life so he has to do this on his terms. Thank you all for your support, but we have to wait a little longer to find out!"

Still picking up offers but the article in the Tennessean says he is not accepting any more offers.
