'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

He's not playing bball at UNC, UCLA, or OSU. They'll just take him because he's a free scholarship. He would be better than some walkon.

With Maymon returning and Stokes likely returning, I do not think the basketball team has anymore scholarships. However, if Elder signed a football scholarship he would not count against basketball. It seems he is more interested in playing basketball than football from reports, but I do not know that for certain.

If he is on a football scholarship, he does not need a basketball scholarship to be able to play basketball. However, if he was awarded a basketball scholarship, he could not play football unless he is given a football scholarship.

Correct.

Whichever sport he attends on scholarship will take precedence of his time and energy. In other words, if he signs a football scholarship, he would not be free to play any other sport until he fulfilled all commitments to the football program and received permission from the football coach to proceed. Most football coaches want their dual sport athletes to take part in at least the initial spring practice and S&C program their first year, before allowing them to compete in other sports. It is not like high school where the player can control things.

I sure would like to see Corn Elder in the Vols Orange and White. Any chances of this happening at this point?

It's not happening. He wants to go to school away from his family. He has family in Roane County. :ermm:

If they play Football at all, and are on Scholarship it has to be a Football Scholarship.
I think NCAA made that rule because of the Miami Recruiting their lower talented recruits to BB Scholarship, and effectively getting more recruits than allowed playing Football.
Unfair advantage if your BB is not competitive anyway and you have kids playing BB just so they can play Football.
I think One year they had 50 kids come in on Scholarship, and all were playing football.
Though I dont think they reciprocated the Rule to prevent Football Scholarships from signing just to play BB.

He is in Columbus this weekend for his OV.
His offer is not comittable right now and if Shelton Gibson jumps on board this weekend, it probably never will be.
He will not be playing basketball here for Thad.

Hmmm...maybe he'll give us another look.

Honestly I've seen Corn play football and basketball, he can flat play. Lead his team to 2 state championships in bball and 3 in football. Star player on both teams and Ensworth is in Div II, which sends the most players D1 year in and year out.

WTF is wrong with these Nashville Dbags that aren't interested in UT? I mean who the heck wants to leave Tennessee to go to Columbus Ohio? I don't care how many free tats you gave me I'd never leave TN for OH... And even more realistically, friends/family notwithstanding, you'll know a grand total of nobody when you get there. And there's no guarantees you'll start. So lets recap (minus my tOSU joke):

1) Leaving hometown friends/family - check
2) Moving from TN to OH aka the black hole of happiness- check
3) Facing the possibility of never starting or playing in a cracker jack conference- check

Umm ok, boys....

These are eighteen year old kids that are making the hardest decision of there life so far that can determine their future, cut them some slack.

Faulty reasoning! If they stay in-state, they are not dbags.

Does this kid do any interviews? Because unless I hear straight from the horses mouth that he chooses basketball over football then it's all bs.

It might have something to do with the UT media-Climer, Hyams, Clay Travis, Basillio-they have continually slammed UT going way back.
