That's not how it works at all.Don't see how USC is getting around the scholarship reductions. Is it 30 total scholarships against the 85? 10 a year? I.E. down to 75 in year 1, 65 in year 2, and 55 in year 3
If so, that makes sense, but if not, don't see how USC is getting more than the allotted 25 per year enacted by the NCAA for the upcoming season.
The penalties are that USC is only allowed 15 scholarships per year with a cap of 75 total allowed.
However, that doesn't mean it will go:
85 -> 75 -> 65 -> 55
For instance, if USC is at 75 scholarships and loses 15 players to graduation (etc), we would be able to sign 15 players, which would keep use right at 75 scholarships.
With the way the roster is spread out, USC will likely be able to stay near (or at) 75 total scholarships.
