'13 KY DE Jason Hatcher (USCw Commit)

Volnation is a bit edgy lately.

Gets like this every summer, nothing new. This summer has had more bickering which I attribute to some of the newer posters. Typically its full meltdown mode around this time because we don't have as many commits as other schools so its definitely a change of pace.

The tone of the convo is different because we have commits that people aren't satisfied with.

Just need the season to get here.

He said "close" or "closer". (Nearby).

So he said "it's a closer school, but not too far". What does that mean?

All jokes aside though, it sounds like he really likes UT, and it sounds like Kiffin has been feedin g him a bunch of garbage about how this will be Dooley's last year.

I'd say it is more of the fact that we finally have in-state talent, and some are heavy leans elsewhere. Many thought we had Ramsey, maybin, and Herron locked up before spring.

you people need to get off dooleys arse....he's gonna be at tn for at least 3 years....write it down....unless this team falls flat on its face....every coach hired this year has a 3 year contract...and if he does go....guess what topped name coach will be available in 3 years....named tressel....it's about time you throw your support for YOUR COACH AND STAFF instead of complaining every other second....

Crap. You didn't just say Tressel. There's no way we ever touch that guy after the mess he left at tOSU. Wouldn't want him, either.

Everyone needs to remember that one of the highest priorities for Hatcher and what draws him most to UT is our excellent Veterinary program, which is not a common program among top tier football schools. It gives us a leg up on most programs in our recruitment of him.

We got the ag campus that helps students work with animals and a brand new veterinary facility coming up too...

This is very true. The one school that worries me the most now is Florida. He mentioned it at the end of his interview that they may sneak in there. Florida does have a veterinary program, and a very good one at that. USC will not get him in my opinion. It seems that his mom has some pull here, and no way that she will want him to go all the way out west. I believe that we are leading right now, but it will come down to UT/UF battle IMO, and UF really scares me if he visits.

Contract length has nothing to do with it. If Hart feels that Dooley isn't the answer he will make a change. He isn't going to let a 4 million dollar buyout cost him 15 million in ticket revenue.

Finally some sense comes to this conversation and season ticket sales are falling faster than a piano dropping out of a 12th story window. Dooley has to create some new excitement in this program THIS YEAR. Loosing control of his team on the field at Kentucky and in the classroom with the GPA are not good signs as to what direction this program is headed. If he can change it, then good, otherwise, it is time for UT to shell out some money.

Other programs are right now telling recruits, including those who grew up UT fans and admire the program, why*do you want to go up there when that program is in total disarray? And that is working against us. The perception of this program is that we were once a great program and rapidly becoming the Ole Miss of the East.

Things have got to change and it is up to Dooley*producing a competitive program that will answer if he will be here after this year or not. The contract and the money will be addressed one way or another.

Stop reading, go to your cabinet, and pull out some JD #7. Pour a tall one, and relax.

Otherwise, good post.

I guess nobody has a summary for the article posted yesterday where Jason had some "interesting" comments about Tennessee?

OK, just want to say right off the bat that I'm not looking to start anything. IMO, I don't think USC gets Jason Hatcher.

But... I did want to point out that a DVM (Vet) degree is a graduate degree, so the above statement isn't as definitive as it would seem. You basically need a biology or other pre-med type undergrad degree to get into a Vet program after undergrad. The undergrad does NOT need to have a Vet program of their own.

He could choose to attend any university that offers a good bio/science undergrad, do well, then transfer to Tennessee or another good Vet program after graduation (and the NFL?).

Omg. What brought you here?

News about recruits that USC and Tennessee are both in on?

I'm not flaming; I don't see the problem in making a post. If my post was somehow ban-worthy, then by all means...

I know you're not flaming. I just don't know why we keep getting fans from other teams here. I wouldn't see the point of going to a USC site.

It's kind of like getting a second opinion after getting a prognosis from one doctor...

The more information you have...

You are correct but most DVM candidates do their undergrad at the same school that offers DVMs

I'm glad we don't have just Vol posters, as long as they don't talk smack(which is unbelievably stupid on the internet anyways). It keeps things unbiased as they could be on a Vol fan site. A lot of posters have a mindset that every recruit is "all vol" and the world revolves around UT, which I'd love but its not true.

True, and attending the same undergrad probably helps you get into the DVM program. I just wanted to point out that it's not like you HAVE to attend an undergrad school that also has a DVM program post-grad.

Trojan, how many commits can you take this year?

We can take a total of 18, or 19 if Darreus Rogers doesn't qualify. 3 of those NEED to be early enrollees (if we take 18 or 4 if we take 19).

We may have as many as 8 EEs, with only 3 counting back to last class.

It looks like we will completely fill the class this year, which will only leave us 15 for next year - the last year of the scholarship reductions.

Don't see how USC is getting around the scholarship reductions. Is it 30 total scholarships against the 85? 10 a year? I.E. down to 75 in year 1, 65 in year 2, and 55 in year 3

If so, that makes sense, but if not, don't see how USC is getting more than the allotted 25 per year enacted by the NCAA for the upcoming season.
