No one is going to be a vol lock or all vol until the season starts and we start winning games. It's that simple. I wouldn't even pay attention until Dooley wins a big game. Otherwise it's all a waste of time and effort following it.

and lol @ Dooley not being on the hot seat. Easily the hottest seat in college football this year. Not even close. Dude lost to a bad, bad Kentucky team his last time out. Come on people.

I really don't understand dooley being on the hot seat. Isn't his contract set at 5 years? Win or lose I don't think our new AD will vacate the HC position earlier than his contract expires. To me it would just throw the program into further turmoil.

You have no proof of his seat being hot. You can claim fan perspective and donations all you want but that is assumption and assumption alone. Hart isn't going to fire Dooley just because a hand full of people on a message board. His seat is not different than Dabo, Brown, Richt, or Jimbo.

But his seat is more ergonomical.

Contract length has nothing to do with it. If Hart feels that Dooley isn't the answer he will make a change. He isn't going to let a 4 million dollar buyout cost him 15 million in ticket revenue.

I don't need proof. I have eyes. He has had two back to back losing seasons his first two years at Tennessee, the second one worst than the first. Ticket sales are way down, and each year we fall farther behind our competitors in the league.

Hey, I want the guy to succeed. Badly. I don't think I can handle another year like the last two, and I like the guy. I think he has all the parts to succeed this year too, which is why I'm confident recruiting will pick up once that starts happening. I'm very excited for this year.

I'm just baffled at how some of you can have such orange colored shades on. He's on the hot seat. His seat is the very definition of a hot seat. His seat is very, very different from all of those coaches you named. You sound ridiculous making those comparisons.

Do you not notice the recruiting difference between Dabo, Jimbo and Dooley right now. Even Richt is having a better time of it. Be honest, if he goes 6-6, would you seriously bet your own money that he doesn't get fired? Like I said, I really hope it works out, but unless you're Dave Hart trolling on a message board then you can't tell me that the pressures not on. We fired a Hall of Fame coach with a Nat Championship. Nobody is above the requirement to produce results at this level. I don't care how many players you have hurt.

Good point. It is still a risky move though. Getting a new coach does not guarantee ticket revenue will increase. Wins will, however, and that is an unfortunate truth. I feel that Hart has a better shot with being patient with Dooley in gaining money rather than trying to start all over.

There is a possibility that Hart pulls someone like kiffin unknowingly. That would cost him his job. In my oppinion, and this is just my oppinion, the best option here is to be patient and hope for the best. With a higher risk of hiring a new coach, not only could you lose even more ticket revenue, but an AD also runs the risk of looking like a dumbass and giving up 4 million that he didn't have to.

you people need to get off dooleys arse....he's gonna be at tn for at least 3 years....write it down....unless this team falls flat on its face....every coach hired this year has a 3 year contract...and if he does go....guess what topped name coach will be available in 3 years....named tressel....it's about time you throw your support for YOUR COACH AND STAFF instead of complaining every other second....

Ah yes, the "not supporting your coach and school" argument, because I'm pointing out the obvious. Good stuff.

This the part where all of us just have to trust that Dave Hart is way more qualified for the job than Mike Hamilton. I hope it doesn't come down to it and that Dooley retires 40 years from now from UT with multiple NC's. But if he doesn't get the job done, I hope we don't settle for second best. Bama and Florida didn't and we shouldn't either.

The problem with this statement is that suppose he is qualified and hires a great coach. With the success that this coach has, he could choose to move on to another program after the first/second year. Then we are at the same spot. The problem isn't the athletic director's qualifications, it is the volatility of the position. If we got a coach, we would have to make sure that he definitely wants to stay at UT.

You might want to ask yourself, how did we get here?

Continue on with all of the negatives with the doom and gloomers, while I enjoy a fun season of Vols football.

This is a great place to argue on a new coach or not. Mental giants here.

Profound.

It's a good thing I didn't say the exact same thing in my post. Oh wait.....

So I should date a so/so girl because a hot girl might leave me for someone else? We're a top ten program in the history of college football. Saban has won two titles at Bama and he isn't going anywhere. We got left high and dry one time by a pos human being. And him leaving is the best thing that happened to this program. Dooley will succeed. I really believe that. But if he doesn't, Hart will find somebody who will get us back where we belong.

This is your post, you didn't say that.

It is, because it has everything to do with Hatcher's recruitment at this point.

Yes because only rational vol fans read recruiting forum threads. By all means go ahead. While you are at, discuss all the cases of herpes in the lockerroom and how there is no hot water.

I had more than one post. No doom and gloom here. I want him to succeed. I'm just not delusional.

What does hiring a football coach have anything to do with propositioning women? I have no doubt he will make a good hire. I just believe that have a good coach for a little bit right after our program has seen some hard times is a bad thing unless that particular coach really loved (and I am talking cares more about being a coach at UT than his paycheck) due to the volatility of the position.

What if Saban decides go back to the NFL?
What if Muschamp doesn't work out at UF?
What if Chizik gets fired at Auburn?

There are too many what ifs and other programs that can proposition a quality coach with more money. It would be better for UT overall by staying stable at gather some identity with a coach like Dooley rather than risk hiring an a$$ h()le that decides to bail on us for a 'sexier' hire.

My apologies. It does not help the coach's recruiting top tier players, however, by 'stating the obvious' that Dooley is on the hot seat when that simply is just subjective information based on his record over two seasons.
