'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Got a great feeling on Lawson and the impression that our staff has made on him. Bell and Harris will have some serious pulling power in getting him to be a Vol IMO... soon

I know he refers to Auburn as a special place, but we have something really special brewing here as well. By special I mean if he comes to UT, I think he will be a part of the 2nd best SEC program in CFB history and its rise back to prominence.

Lawson would be a monumental get. Even if we don't land him, grabbing Bell , levenberry, North is a very solid finish . 2014 will speak for itself recruiting wise.

That, and I think we maybe reading too much into the "special" remark. These kids get asked so many questions by so many people that they probably just have default answers in place for when they run out of things to say. That is my glass half full interpretation anyways. Could be way off.

I already feel great about the vibe from the coaching staff so far. I think we land Bell, Levenberry, North, Chongo, and Dobbs. I would be ecstatic if we get Lawson I just think he is going to Auburn. I think everyone is overestimating our chances with Lawson and Ford and underestimating the chances we land North and Bell.

I think some people, possibly recruits included, give Malzahn too much credit for AUs success during the championship year. I think he is a decent coordinator, don't get me wrong, but Auburns dropoff didn't start when he left. It started when Cam Newton left. If you look at the year prior to, and the year after Cam, then Gus' record looks fairly pedestrian.

Butch has a longer, more proven track record as a head coach for sure and I hope Carl Lawson sees this :)

I think Malzahn is a very good offensive guy--if I was on the defensive side, my fear would be that offense would get all the attention.

This is interesting. Carl Lawson was apparently spotted at Georgia Tech today. Dad played there. #Auburn #Vols #Clemson

Interesting ESPN insider article up on Jenkins' relationship with Lawson and how that could affect his decision. Doesn't seem to be pushing to hard and I think thats a good approach.

"Me and Carl are real good buddies," the four-star wide receiver said.
"Sometimes," Jenkins said. "A lot of times I talk to him about recruiting. But we talk about other stuff, too."

Jenkins also isn't one to put a hard sell on Lawson, who is considering Tennessee, Auburn and Clemson.
