'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

It does, doesn't it? Going to be a tough storm to weather but if we lead today hopefully we lead Monday too.

:crossfingers:

Well after reading the article yesterday Lawson had a ton of positive things to say about his visit to UT. He even said he he stayed longer to watch film. This staff is swinging for the fences and is not afraid to go after the players they want. I am glad that this young man took the time to check out UT just to see what it's about. Really sounds like he loved all the resources at his disposal if he comes to UT. I hope we are lucky enough to sign this young man.

Carl Lawson told @BMatt247 he just gets a "special feeling" when he's at #Auburn (VIP) One more visit for 5-star DE Carl Lawson #SigningDay

Not really sure how anyone reads that, sees "Auburn commit" after his name, and thinks he's anything other than a long shot.

I'd love to have him, he could be a game changer. Seems extremely unlikely at this point.

Mike Farrell..

DE Carl Lawson: Lawson didn't make his official visit to North Carolina, so now it will come down to the three schools most anticipated it would: Auburn, Tennessee and Clemson. The Auburn commit will visit the Tigers this weekend and with the sudden Tigers recruiting surge, they will be looking to cement his commitment. Getting the last visit is huge for Auburn and will give it momentum heading into LOI Day. But there seem to be more rumors about Clemson and Tennessee with Lawson than the school he's still committed to. Tennessee has former Auburn coach Tommy Thigpen and very good friend Ryan Jenkins, Clemson had long been considered the team to beat after the firing of the Auburn staff and sources inside Lawson's school think it will be the ACC Tigers. Auburn, meanwhile, has done a good job of keeping Lawson committed and renewing his interest. Lawson will not make an announcement, he will simply inform the school of his choice and then thank the other two, so this will be interesting to follow. Flip a coin here, but I'll say Tennessee takes it home.

Ok, I know a lot of people on here have a theory that CBJ is planning a large atomic boom for NSD. I am not saying that is the plan, but for those that believe that theory, I have a couple thoughts concerning CL. Lets say that is the plan, and all the recruits are on board, including CL and family. They make it look like CL is all AU at this point, then CBJ pulls a rabbit out of his hat, and CL calls UT on Monday morning and says he wants to be a VOL. This in turn gets the ball rolling for other recruits on the fence, and come NSD, CBJ gets his atomic boom, and it is like Hiroshima up in this Butch.

If a commitment from Lawson is Hiroshima, then a public commit from Vonn Bell would be Nagasaki.

I have a feeling this kid and his family wouldn't do that to any school.

Agreed. Lawson and his family are handling this in house with little to no influences from outside factors. The decision made will be one that's believed to be the most beneficial for Carl's career moving forward.

He would be better served with Hobby at Clemson than Gardner at Auburn. I have just heard thru the years that Gardner is not a great DL coach. A monster recruiter but not a great DL coach.

I think with the way Lawson stated he likes to work on his craft and him hitting it off with Stripling and with his work as a DL coach, Lawson would be made a better player at UT. But, Auburn and Gardner should be his third choice on who will prepare him better. With his work ethic, he should be a NFL player regardless. Hope he chooses UT. If not, he would be better in the long run at Clemson than Auburn.

Good post. I think this is a point that gets overlooked with this kid. It's been said several times how he is a student of the game that wants a position coach who can teach him the best & one that likes to "talk shop." We heard how much Lawson liked talking with coach Stripling & his history with putting guys in the league speaks for itself. From most accounts, Garner is known more for his recruiting skills.

Also, I know we've joked about the film guy at UT but with CL supposedly liking watching film like he does & how impressed he was with our setup I think that may factor into his decision more than people think.

This kid is who I want at UT the most over any other recruit. His football skills are a big part of that but imo he's a guy that will be a leader on & off the field with his work ethic as well as the way he carries himself. Kinda reminds me of Tiny & I think that's exactly why CBJ assigned him to host Lawson.
