I can think of 4-5 impact d-linemen that have come from Georgia over the last 15 years. I’m not saying this guy doesn’t have a great rapport with his players. It just doesn’t seem to me like he takes all that talent and does a lot with it. What I’m saying is, I don’t think this really qualifies as “home run” like a Tee Martin or a Dameyune Craig.

Mazahn's offense with that defensive staff will be very tough. Garner will be recruiting some studs. This is what I was affraid of. Gus Malzahn will be the next Steve Spurrier. Im just glad Florida didnt get him...

Probably got fired because obviously Richt can never be blamed for blowing yet another big game. It must be somebody else’s fault.

In all seriousness, I figured he just wanted a change. I can’t imagine staying at one school in this era for that long.

Garner will do a great job of recruiting for AU in the long-term, but Lawson is not happy about the hire. There is a reason why he was not interested in UGA and it wasn't just the 3-4 defense. Lawson will let it play out more but AU lost some valuable ground.

This right here!! I, too, thought that if Auburn hired Garner, then it would help us with Lawson. He may kill it in recruiting long-term, but I believe it will hurt them for Lawson's service.

This deserves a huge BOOM!!!!

I wonder if Lawson was informed of the hire a few days ago, when rumors started to leak out, and that is when he set up his OV to Tennessee. If so, then we have an excellent chance of landing him IMHO.

Tennessee has come on nicely since Jones was hired and Lawson is giving the Vols a strong look, but it will be interesting to see how Rodney Garner to Auburn affects Lawson, as Georgia never offered Lawson.

Wonder if Garner will lie and say he wanted him, but Richt said no? Either way, we've got an official from him, so Jones has his chance to sell Tennessee to him.

This. He will blow it off as a DC/HC decision not to pursue. If Lawson likes AU better he will stick with the commitment. Good luck to Jancek and Jones on selling him. We could use him immediately.

Just curious as to how you know Lawson isnt happy about the hire or are you making an assumption?
