'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

A number of informed people think he actually is better than Nkemdiche. The major difference for the recruting experts is 6'5" vs. 6'2". Lawson's stats are better than Nkemdiche.

I'd agree with that assessment. I've studied the film of both individuals and caught some live footage of both and I really think Lawson is better. Nkemdiche is an animal but Lawson is a monster.

I think if Auburn goes 5-7 and UT goes 8-4 or 9-3 it would really help our chances. He definitely likes UT and our coaches. Back in the summer he was quoted as saying he loves Sal and that he's the best LB coach in the country. Winning lands recruits like this.

Not doubting you...but did he say this or was it Adams? I remember seeing the video where Adams said it. Which is cool but would be cooler if both have said it...:)

Thanks for the info :good!: and great bump. If we can go into Bama game on a high from a solid win that game will be electric for sure.

Speechless.

Lawson is so dynamic that he has the ability to essentially define his own role in our defense. The guy can virtually play anywhere.

This is my D.Green of LB recruits. Guy that's impact day 1. The atmosphere at the UF/UT game was great but the performance vs UGA did a lot more to help the program.

Playing like we did on the road vs. No.5 UGA looks a lot better than the UF performance. Also shows this team hasn't quit on Dooley and is progressing.

"Coach Sunseri is the best 3-4 outside linebackers coach," Lawson said. "He's a technician with it and he just knows so much. It's amazing that so much goes into certain things. Coach Graham is just a cool guy overall. They are both good coaches."

Combining the 2 good parts from those 2 games shows them something for sure. The FL game atmosphere was well noted by the recruits that were there. These kids today don't know Neyland could be like that, so it helped for sure. Then combine ur assessment of how the UGA made us look. :good!:

Man I hope this kid, as well as, the team and the fans show up for that game.

I love it how Dooley just made a phone call and it helped get one of the best players in the country to consider a visit. Now who says the man can't recruit!!!

I don't think Chizik is going to be let go. He won a NC just under two years ago, and he hasn't been at the Barn for that long. The large buy-out will play a role, but I also think it was known that this year would be a bit of a down year for the Barn. I think next year is his "hot seat" year. He's brought in good recruiting classes, and the results will have to start to show.

You may be right. Recruiting has been really good to great under Chizik and this year AU could end with a top 5-10 ranked team. His biggest problem excepting BCS championship year, is two 8-5 seasons and possibly far worse this year. That is tough to swallow for a lot of fans when your biggest rival and fellow in-state school is Bama winning 2-3 BCS titles during the same period.

I actually think that keeping the current staff at AU will help UT with Lawson. If they bring in a new staff and hit a HR with the hire if would keep the class in tact. If CGC & Co stay they will be on the hot seat even more next year. If you are a recruit this year and see the program going backyards you will probably have more concerns about the staff staying after your freshman year than a brand new staff coming in that will probably get at least 3 years to turn a program around.

I think the staff will get to stay at least one more year to give the new OC and DC an opportunity and only because the NC in 2010.

UT is pushing hard for Lawson and as VOTP stated getting him there during the season is big. UA is making a huge push right now for Liner, but UT has a better chance to flip Lawson than UA does Liner.

Difficult to read the minds or motivation of 17-18 year olds. Some want a stable environment in a program and some want the challenge of bringing a program back. I agree with your analysis of Lawson and Liner.

We need to come out next week and beat State, preferably handly. I think that would help with the atmosphere.

Yeah I agree. We need to get an atmosphere back in Neyland for the Bama game. I don't think it will get to the UF game's level, but we need to get close to that IMO. If we do, I think it would say a lot to him about the fanbase and the support he'd receive.

Do you think chizik is gone if they only win 5?

Edit: miscounted and forgot they already played lsu.

No. They're all safe no matter what. Partly to keep the current recruiting class together, which is ironic to say in this thread.

People are starting to grumble though.

You really think multiple 5 stars will stick to a 4 or 5 win team? I just can't see it.

Recruits don't really care for the most part. You're winning, you sell them on championships. You're losing, you sell them on playing time.

One of Auburn's freshman this year said after NSD that a big factor in his decision was the Chik-fil-a in the student center. So maybe we, as fans, give their reasoning skills too much credit.

Agree. Also, Foster is a charismatic guy very close to both Lawson and Liner. UT is AU's only threat for Lawson and perhaps to a far lesser extent, Bama for Liner.

why isnt bama tryin to steal this kid? seems like it would be a the perfect annual AU top recruit grab(calloway, cyrus, yeldon)

he seems like alot better choice then dee liner atleast

Calloway and Kouandjio are being a little harsh, IMO.

Lolololol, there's Chick-fil-a's on a lot of campuses.

I want this kid twice as much as i want TJ or Bell.

I love this interview.
Carl Lawson - YouTube

"You had 2 sacks and 6 hurries against a QB committed to Arizona St, how do rate your performance on a scale of 1 - 10?"

Lawson - "a one"
