Yes and no. If they hit a HR on the hire it may give them a boost. But a lot of the players that were recruited by like Trooper probably not. A new staff will come in and clean house.
100% agree. I "know" Jamal Mosley, TE for Ole Miss. He was recruited by Trooper at OSU. He left OSU because Trooper left for the Barn. He ended up at a Miss. CC (Northwest), then Ole Miss. Trooper recruits for himself not the school. That's been evidenced many times.
On the HR hire, things will change by the end of the season, but are there really any big name coaches available right now? Smart and Strong would be in the conversation, I suppose. I can't see Smart going to the Barn from Bama. That's like some Red Sox - Yankees stuff.
We are last in the conference in sacks and #100 in the nation. A player like Lawson can go a long way in improving this area.
Wow, that is bad. Sentimore has been about average. The way he was built up.. I expected more big plays. He'll get there though.. may be next season but he will turn out fine. Wish we had a guy like Will Overstreet.

We aren't even holding up in coverage long enough for the pass rush to get there. Sentimore has played very well for us. The D-line isn't the problem. Maggitt being hurt is more of the problem than anything. Hell teams are killing us running the ball.

I didn't say he has played bad. But he isn't making the big plays. Big play makers make big plays. He has been good, no doubt. But we need him to be make some big plays. I agree the d line is probably the strongest point on defense. Just be nice to see some game changing sacks
That is not the role of the defensive linemen in this defense. Their job is tie up the OL and keep them off of the LBs, so that the LBs can clean up and make the plays.I didn't say he has played bad. He thinks we play in the 4-3. That's why a kid like Maggitt is so important. Sentimore is more than doing his job. When a 3-4 lineman is getting penetration then he's playing very well. Sentimore, Couch, and McCullers are playing winning football. The back 7-8 are the problem right now. Hopefully Coleman and McNeil can do some work in the secondary for us.
Truth!
Johnson is playing good, Maggitt showed his potential before the Turf Toe, Lathers has been inconsistent (injuries didn't help) but is a hard-nosed player and solid field leader, and Smith's job as Jack is the designated pass rusher---he's gotten pressure but he's got to take better angles to get to the QB AND he's got to di a better job containing!
DB's have been exposed. Bonner needs to get his head around the PB---fast! Coleman is still young and making youthful mistakes. Randolph's injury really hurts. McNeil reps will only increase as the season progresses.
Right now the positive is that all of this PT will pay dividends in '13. BUT we need to cash in now!

Johnson needs to step it up and start putting his helmet on people instead of trying to body slam everybody. Lathers needs to lead by example. Smith has gotten what kind of pressure??? He's been playing terrible period. The pressure he has gotten was after another guy is already there.
McNeil is starting and he'll be more than fine. As will Coleman at CB. Both are intelligent young players. Coleman wasn't the victim in the passing game against UGA. He had a pretty good game. He gave up a back shoulder throw that he couldn't do a thing about with the WR pushing him by.
