'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Anyone know anything about the competition he's going up against, he makes everyone who tries to block him look like a scrub.

Watching the Rivals 100 Five Star Challenge videos (before they got pay-walled) made it obvious that he could do that against anybody.

You guys will probably disagree, but I want this guy more than Green, we have NO elite pass rushers on defense, this dude is the definition of an elite pass rusher

This kid would make a huge difference. Aside from AJ and McCullers, right now we have a defense of players who are good for one good play a game and are otherwise invisible.

Yeah I would like both.. But a dominant run game, which Green would bring with him would help us have control of the ball longer, giving our pass rushers much needed rest to refuel on the sideline.. Pass rushing takes a great deal of energy. Heck even Dwight Freeney gets winded after long drives and staying on the field.. A good run game slows down the tempo of the game, favoring the defense. Thats why Bama( as much as they make me sick) always seems to get after the QB and remains fresh on D

D-line isn't bad for us. Our best defensive playmaker has turf toe though. Which is the biggest problem for us.

Running game isn't the problem. The defense is what needs help right now.

Sounds like a bama troll to me. Offense wins games, Defense wins championships. i want both but turman and lane after neal leaves is still pretty good.

Didn't say it was... It isn't a dominant aspect of our game like it needs to be though. And yes, but are linebackers and secondary are in far worse shape in than our D line. They look lost out there a lot of times.

The staff is working hard to get Lawson. Sal, Graham, and CDD are working him every week. The fact we've gotten him to consider visiting is huge. If Ole Miss takes Auburn, and he visits UT the same weekend, good things can happen.

I really don't think Lawson wants to play DE in a 4-3. IMO, he would be better off standing up and not with his hand on the ground all game. I really think the Jack position and Sal are keeping us in this race. I really hope he switches.

I agree O&W. I think that's playing a role. Just about everytime he's interviewed, he talks about how he loves pass-rushing. I don't want to read into it too much, but he mentions the Jack position everytime UT is mentioned.

Either way, he can play both, no doubt. Kid just likes Auburn.

There is a reason that top pass rushers get selected in first round of the draft every year. Unless a running back is just an all out stud, they will almost always be behind several great pass rushers. Bruce Irvin being drafted in the middle of the first round is proof of that. Our secondary would look much better if we had a pass rusher or two making some plays. Curt Maggitt having turf toe isn't helpinig either.

A lot of questions have come up about AU and retaining CGC because of the huge buyout. It is not what people think. Come Dec 1 it will only be 7.5m and not a lump sum. His contract would pay him monthly until the end of 2015. So it would be paid out over the next years. And only if he did not take another job, which it also states he has to make an effort to find another job. So they may only have to pay him about 2 million and if there was any NCAA rules violated they found they could fire him without giving him a dime.

The link below explains it. I think the staff may be replaced. Which may bode well for UT and Lawson but may also bode well for AU if they pull in a great staff with the talent they have.

If Auburn comes out smelling like a rose after all this mess they've been pulling, just by dropping Chizik, I'm going to be one pissed off guy who will just have to remain pissed off because I have no power to do anything about it. The NCAA should be me.

If the majority of the staff leaves, so will some of that talent.

We are last in the conference in sacks and #100 in the nation. A player like Lawson can go a long way in improving this area.

Yes and no. If they hit a HR on the hire it may give them a boost. But a lot of the players that were recruited by like Trooper probably not. A new staff will come in and clean house.

According to a couple of Auburn boards' recruiting analysts, Trooper is only key to RFoster.

I knew Foster but did not know the others.

If CGC is fired it appears it would happen in Dec which would allow the new staff a chance to hold on. Nothing can be worse than happening late Jan.
