'13 FL CB Vernon Hargreaves III (FL Commit)

marlin lane and Rajion Neal have to turn things up ALOT.

I do not believe in our DLine, not one bit. for a good 3-4 years we've been a one man front. (Dan Williams and Malik) CWalker tapered off badly but that was due to legit injury

I would say its more intelligent to believe we are closer to the last 4 years than to believe we have a miraculous break out year at every position grouping with new O Line coach and New DC. its not to say we wont make progress, but to jump up and be elite, Until I see it, I wont believe it.

and our OLine has not proven it can drive SEC defenses off the LOS. I dont see how our group can be thought to be great. at the core of winning football is the run game, when we can run the ball we will win.

even with zero passing game, UF had a 900+ yard rusher, a 600+ yard rusher and a 300+ yard Rusher. all over 5 yards/ carry

Do you think the addition of Sentimore and McCullers (and to a lesser extent O'Brien and Taylor) will improve our D-Line (factoring in the losses of Malik and Walker)? Also, do you think our personnel will benefit to the move to a 3-4? Finally, what impact on the run game do you think Tiny's insertion as LT brings?

from 2.8 yrds/carry to 5...
:salute:

hey , more power to you.

The run game never had a chance to get fixed once Hunter got hurt. Every team put an extra safety in the box once he went down. I doubt its going to be 5 yards, but a 3.8 to 4 ypc is very reasonable.

at least Tiny is Not Finesse. that will Help ALOT. but losing Cam Hurts.

I dont know what specifically to expect out of Sentimore and McCullers. Im expecting Improved play. Yes.
but question is whether either of them able to get upfield or are they going to play like 2 gappers who anchor the LOS.

and I do own a pair of Orange shades, I just finished telling a friend that I believe tiny will be a top 5 pick in the NFL draft by the time his JR year is up.

Im thinkin Ogden and Pace type impact.

I think McCuller is going to fill the gap and anchor the LOS, while Sentimore gets upfield.

The whole Dline is an enigma.

you dont think teams like LSU, Florida and South carolina didnt face an 8 man front every game ?

Good teams run on 8 man fronts all the time

Alshon Jeffrey was a huge factor for d coordinators last year. It doesn't matter if his stats weren't there, his presence alone was huge. D coordinators gave Alshon respect.

LSU has the best depth in college football when it comes to running the ball, they could handle it. You can't forget about Reuben Randle and Odell Beckham, both were very good recievers.

Both of those teams had an x factor that didn't allow them to blitz like crazy like they did against UT. Rogers is a great reciever, but he couldn't stretch the field and good corners locked him down.

UF wasnt that good at rushing the ball last year except for when they played UT. They ranked 73rd in rushing.

so Alshon is a huge factor but Da'rick isnt...

I quit. you won.
good teams dont ever run on 8 man fronts.

Alshon can take over a game against good teams, Darick couldn't last year. Rogers was not a huge factor last year against good teams.

Again, when did I say good teams don't ever run 8 man fronts? UT was constantly blitzed, those teams weren't because of players like Randle, Beckham, and Jeffrey.

Before the Powell injury we were returning 10 of 11 and 20 of 22 in the 2 deep. Top 10 in total D (8th passing and 35 Run). Funny with all our lack of INT and the suppose "size issue/average DB" the unit gave up 165 yd a game.

If Ya'll gave up 165 passing a game, it's because pas interference calls don't count in the statistics. UF had 165 worth of those just against us.

Our defense doesn't have to be great to win games. It just needs to be solid which I think it will be. I wholeheartedly believe that we have quality D-Line depth that will prevent teams from running down our throats every game. We will have a chance to beat anyone on our schedule that doesn't have a dynamic passing game. The only teams on our schedule that could beat us passing are UGA and Bama. And they better also be able to hold us under 20 points which will be a chore in itself.

I think in the recent past we have been bringing a knife to a gun fight. I can understand concerns about the team and what the season will look like. Personally, I feel like this is the first time that we can beat everyone on the schedule. That certainly doesn't mean we will.

Alshon sucked balls last yr without lattimore and the run game. Darick can play and so can alshon. Hard to do your thing being double and triple teamed

We have quite a few game changers on our team this year. We have had some solid players the last couple of years but we've not had the depth nor game changing playmakers. This year we have both. The only concerns I have are the quality of depth at LB and RB. We have some elite talent at both positions but I just hope we don't have to rely on them more than expected.

Really? Just like he did against Auburn?

Darick was never double or triple teamed. Teams would put one corner on him.

USCjr went to almost a pure spread when Garcia was booted. Thats not his fault, stats aren't everything. Plus USCjr's rushing hardly missed a beat when Lattimore got hurt.

He had pretty much the exact same stats against UGA that he did against Auburn this year so I don't know what you mean.

Jeffery had over 100 yards and 2 tds against Bama 2 years ago too.

You're comparing a possession receiver who was consistently double teamed and his QB was consistently blitzed because we had no running game and absolutely no other threat at WR... To a guy who had a Heisman contending running back and actual threats along with him at WR. Let's compare their stats this year. Rogers junior stats to Jeffery's junior stats.
