Dead period is a time when the college coach may not have any in-person contact with the prospective student-athlete or the prospect’s parents at any time. The coach may write and telephone during this time.

Dead period starts at midnight.

We have cleaned up on the DL this cycle. 2013 is off to a fast start. Dooley finds our weaknesses, and attacks them like a madman on the recruiting trail. I think we also get Kirven, but even if we don't, we are in much better shape than thus time last year. Here's to hoping we add KK

Yeah I agree. First was JC Copeland who signed with LSU on NSD and then last year Gabe Wright went to Auburn. I don't know why it's been so hard to sign highly ranked DTs. The playing time has been right there for them. I'm glad it's been mainly addressed this class though.

Hopefully Mo Couch really begins to make an impact next season. He started to show his talent toward the end of last season if I remember correctly. Hopefully Daniel McCullers makes his presence known early next year too.

is it bad that the only thing that i hear out of that entire thing is his reference to the rock. not to toot my own horn but makes me proud as heck that the mod of a vtech site speaks out in anger against the rock we painted for korrens parents. heck with it getting painted over so fast and with them never even making it in i figured it was a lost cause. just makes me laugh a little inside, sorry if nobody cares lol

i dont see how they can make anything like that stick. I know it will not happen, but imagine we lost 25 srs next year and had 5 declare for the draft, then another 5 or so leave the team for whatever reasons. They cannot keep us from getting to our 85 i wouldnt think.

Yes, we are in a much better position along the DL than we were last season. The key now is can they be coached up by the new DL coach? Landing KK would still be huge. It would really shore up the DT depth that we had been lacking.

Moving to the 3-4 also helps because you don't play as many DTs. McCullers will (hopefully) hold a double team and allow the LBs to make plays.

Alot of recruits know about the rock before they ever step foot on campus, sometimes thats the first thing they look for.

No doubt in my mind Palermo can coach them up. His recruiting prowess (to me) was his question mark. He is highly regarded as an X's & O's kind of coach.

Skeet, out of curiosity, and you don't have to name names, but are there any surprising names floating around the football office? Any chance Dooley wows us with someone on Wednesday?

I really expect us to go back and forth between a 3-4 and a 4-3. The more play we get from Big Mac and Carson the more 3-4 we will see. Imo

Yeah, but I think Sal makes up for his recruiting a bit. At this point, we need a good coach to teach them the fundamentals, blocking, pass rush, etc. That way, if and when they produce on the field, you can really sell that to future recruits.

Yeah you're probably right. I know CDD wants UT to be more "multiple." That's one way to do it. I personally can't wait to see how the defense adjusts to the change.

no suprises this year, unless you count patterson and kirven suprises if they pick us.

Agreed on all but the if/when part. They will produce. It's just a matter of how much, how quickly.

im sorry if youve already covered this and i missed it but whats your take on legget? is he worth it in your eyes? as in do you think we can get him in and wont get screwed by having to sign and place and then re-recruit him next year?
