'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

Back to the injury talk.

When did he break his ankle?

Surely he won't be out a full year with that!

Can't remember the exact date, but it was the week before his high school state championship game. Like I mentioned before I don't see why some posters on here keep referring to him as having to sit out next year. He will have plenty of time to have healed, and everything he says seems to indicate that he thinks he will be ready to go next year.

Thanks. I really didn't want to read thru the entire thread.

I was being serious. His parents taking the time to visit UT without Korren is a great development. VT has always been a huge factor in Kirven's recruitment. Lynchburg is VT territory. We have made a strong push with the hiring of Sunseri, and I hope it's enough. I'm just not as optimistic as everyone else.

I took it as sarcasm...my bad :hi:

I'm getting the feeling that Kirven is wanting to come here...and I think he's trying to sell his parents on it...

Didn't Kirven say in an interview awhile back that he thinks the idea of his school being a pipeline to VT is overplayed and only a few players have actually gone there?

Maybe I'm remembering that wrong

Ankle injurys can last awhile, trust me I'm a college athlete who has gone a year without my ankle feeling and acting right. Plus I've had surgery to repair it once already

Actually, his parents are coming up here by themselves without him.

Yep -- a little embarrassed here. I responded to a couple of posts as I came to them not realizing that I still had a number of pages left that I had yet to read.

It was a "Hyams" moment, responding to old news -- a bit like a brain fart.

Anyway, I agree that if Kirven's folks are coming without him, that is an even better sign. It appears to clearly be either us or Alabama, and I very much hope that it is Tennessee.

VT commits from Kirven's HS:
2009 - Logan Thomas (4-star TE--now starting QB)
2010 - Zack McCray (4-star DE)

VT had a 2011 3-star commit from a private HS in Lynchburg.

D.J. Humphries said his announcement was going to surprise everyone. Forgive me for not getting my hopes up.

When he says "it's going to surprise everyone," he doesn't mean that he's going to shock the world by picking a school that nobody expected, he just means that he's not going to tell anyone before making the announcement so nobody will know beforehand.

The staff and VN fans seem real high on this guy. .... Is it a fact he will sit out next year due to injury? If so, all this attention and hype seems to be a bit much.

Can some of you older recruitniks recall recent prospects that sat out as freshmen due to injury, then turned out to be great? Serious question. Real curious how big a deal it is.
Kevin Burnett?

Im sorry but VT to me has been a shooting grounds.

I know it's just a few crazies that have shot the place up, and I'm not just saying this because I'm a Vol fan, but if my kids wanted to go there I'd kinda been directing them somewhere else.

Just seems every year someone is going bullet spreading happy there.

A lot of VT fans think he's already a silent. No way IMO.

I actually heard he was a VT silent also....

His parents making the drive to UT is a good sign because we're obviously either #1 or #2 for him right now, but I still think VT in the end.

I hope I'm wrong though for sure.
