'12 TX LB Dalton Santos (Texas Commit)

I really hope he uses his brain instead of just his heart. He is not built to be a linebacker in the Big 12. He will be a situational player only.
At Tn, as an inside LB in the 3-4, he could be a stud from day 1. I hope logic prevails.

Santos will more than likely evolve into a DE role at Texas. He is very similar to Brian Robison who came to Texas as a LB, played DE and helped Texas to a national title and is having a nice career at DE with the Vikings.

Texas has lost a lot of "out of state" recruits at the last minute during Mack's tenure. I don't hold a grudge against any of them. I can't imagine what it is like to be 17/18 and to be pressured by world-class salesmen into making a decision.

Texas was 11th in the nation in D this past season and that was with a sub-par offense supporting them and in an offensive intensive conference. Texas will be a top 5 D next season and probably the year after. Santos is walking into a great situation with a program he has loved since childhood. I will be shocked if he leaves Austin without committing to Texas.

I hope they're up front and tell him, that he'll probably end up at DE. From my understanding, that is precisely what he doesn't want to have happen.

And so the ooze of Orange Steer propaganda begins.

Reading the comments below the article, it sounds like Texas fans already believe he's a Horn. The arrogance in Texas is alarming.

This is why I firmly believe Texas was the state of Tennessee's greatest mistake.

I worry about Santos, but the one thing that has surprised me throughout all this is that he seems to have maintained firm in the substance of his commitment in spite of his statements that seemingly lead to the contrary conclusion. Between Arky, UGA, and A&M hounding him they way they have, I do wonder if in spite of Texas's strong hold over a lot of these kids, if he's actually firm to Tennessee. This throws a wrench in things and I have anxiety with regards to his commitment, but I think we've got a lot going in our favor. They're really late to this ballgame and my hope is that shines through in the end.

Don't forget, he'll get to play in one of the worst conferences in the country. The Big 12 is garbage, and Dalton knows this.

It makes me angry to see the comments in that article. The fans are asking if he would be able to play immediately. The response is he would make a huge impact in special teams... what a waste.

csprig, have you ever heard of a guy named Brian Urlacher. He's really ripped.

haha yes ive heard of urlacher. He's not ripped but he also does not look like he drinks 20 beers a day either. I never said i didnt want him at UT, just said he's a fatty. Dam some of you guys have the biggest man crush on santos. I myself do also, but he is a fatty and needs to be in better shape.

HAHA whatever, I haven't seen any other mlb that looked like that. No you dont need a six pack, but you need to be in shape with less bad weight then hes has. Look i know these guys were a little older then santos in there pics but he would have some work to do in the weight room to improve his endurance. I want santos to be a vol but if you live in texas and your a texas fan and they offer you, you go to texas 99% of the time..

Give him some time in the Vols' S&C program, body % will be just fine.

No doubt this guy has a 6 pack, it is just insulated hehe.

My 6 pack has lost 24 lbs of insulation in the last 60 days. Almost showing through the remaining insulation :) turn 50 this year, time to lose all my insulation.

During the regular season & the post season, the Big 12 was the 2nd best conference. In fact, for much of the regular season, the computers had the Big 12 as the best conference. Am I saying the elite of the Big 12 is better this past season than the elite of the SEC? Of course not.

Also, with WVU and TCU coming in for A&M and Mizzou, the Big 12 has become more difficult while the SEC has become easier. A&M and Mizzou are great additions for the SEC relative to eyeballs watching TVs and better TV contracts but purely in football terms, the Big 12 came out of realignment much better.

This whole conference issue is what has confused the aggies relative to recruiting. They think recruits will be more excited about them because they are in the SEC. Conference affiliation means more to them, and probably to you guys, than it does to Texas. Kids from the lonestar state grow up wanting to be a Longhorn and it has nothing to do with conference affiliation. They feel that being a Longhorn is special.
