He started saying distance didn't matter. Then he said the quote about the 8 hour drive. Then he named a top two but didn't shut the door on anyone. I just don't believe the kid wants to leave home that bad. JMO.

That is why I would not be surprised with him commitint to aTm this weekend on his visit.

Another note he said he would like to play in the SEC and now there are rumors flying around that aTm is talking again to the SEC about joining.

I would take aTm in SEC but no way would I want clem$on...have enough to worry about with Aubbie/Trooper "waving" money around.

Without Alexander I counted 16. 16 - 6 (seniors) = 10. 10 - 1 (Hightower if he leaves) = 9. 9+1 (Alexander or Santos) = 10.

How is what Pace said unsubstantiated?

I am unsubstantiated because I made a comment. You will quickly learn that most feel I am just here to troll and have no idea what I am talking about. Oddly enough...some seem to be questioning recruiting of late and the crazy concept that alot of what I said...makes some sense. I will admit I do still like seeing the "It's only July" or "Just wait till NSD"! It tells me that there are some that have no issue going down with the ship....and I can respect that. Just don't let go of the big door!

People are numb to your attitude and incessant broken-record message. I mean, it's the same comment every time. For the most part, at least in my case, I don't read your posts.

It's not unreasonable to not be panicked about the situation. In fact, people with longer-term views are comfortable with some short term failings if the process is sound. Derek Dooley hasn't even started his second camp as the head coach. The team finished below .500 last year, although it could've been an 8-5 season. I see a lot of positive things.

The team's combined record is below .500 for the last three seasons. How many elite recruits want to come to a below .500 program who has potential NCAA sanctions hanging over them? The answer is none, UNLESS there's some really shady stuff going on. So there are a couple of things you can take from this:

1.) Dooley is doing it the right way and running an ethically sound program. Last thing we need is more NCAA scrutiny.
2.) These results are to be expected from a team with a below .500 record.

I guess it just depends on your personality. But I get tired of reading your constant moaning and groaning. So I generally ignore what you write because it's the same thing every time. We've got it. You're an alarmist. That's fine. It's just tiring because that's the only thing you add to the conversation.

What the heck do you expect from a below .500 team with NCAA sanctions hanging over them? To demand 5 star after 5 star is completely unrealistic. Those that demand that are living in the past. This is the present. You want 5 stars? Win. If we were landing a ton of 5 stars, it would be because we're doing it the Auburn and Clemson way and, frankly, I won't support a team like that.

So grow up, quit living in the past, join us in the present, and starting planning for the future. The 2012 season and 2013 recruiting classes are when we should see the fruits of Dooley's labor. They'll be banner years for us.

Now on Santos: This is his first visit and our first real chance to impress him. Don't worry just yet on this guy.

The comment was made about Bams's current depth chart at LB...of the list you made of current LB's you have five that are 4* and above...so to say that he would be relegated to the bench because of their current depth and would be fighting with 10 or more top LB's for 4 total spots (8 if you count the entire 2-deep) is by definition an unsubstantiated claim...

Add to this that the OP has a history of saying whatever he has to in order to inflame our fanbase and it becomes even easier to believe that the claim has no basis or intention other than to troll...

Pace...if you want to jump off the ship then by all means please do...I can assure you that nobody around here will care if you never came back...

But to say the ship is sinking is...once again...an unsubstantiated claim....

This time last year there were four 4* players that had publicly put us in their top 2-3 (Arnett, AJ, Coleman, Martin)...

This year we are in the top 2-3 with eight 4* or better players (Patterson, Bowles, Cameron, Howard, Croom, McCullers, O'Brien)...

The ship wasn't sinking then...it's not sinking now....you are either completely devoid of foresight or you are posting the way you post to get attention....either one is ridiculous

I am trying to be more positive. I look at it like this....If we have a BIG camp and land 2-3 good 4 star type recruits because of it...that will put us well on our way to trying to catch Vandy and claiming the recruiting title in Tennessee.

The best start to recruiting that Vandy has ever had has led to them having one 4* committed...and that worries you....

You are so ridiculous

As long as we can get Cody Blanc to commit before Vandy offers him and steals him away...we will be fine.

They sign Kimbrow and now we are trying to catch vandy. Not the case here. In the end we will have a good signing class, I base this off of last years class on how he closed. We are not going to get everybody we want as a fanbase, Dooley is working on what he wants and what UT needs. Be patient. :salute:

No value added to the board. Same statement, over and over. If you were funny, it might be ok. But you're not even funny.

I guess you're shooting to have the worst reputation on VN, and that's pretty tough to do. If recognition is your goal, you've achieved that. Well done. If respect is your goal, you've failed.

Back to Santos, I apologize for the derailment.

He could easily be blown away on his visit to Knoxville and reinsert UT into consideration. The thing is, recruiting is very fluid. He could come here, really hit it off with Sirmon, and like what he sees. I'd be concerned if he leaves us out of his top 2/3 after the visit, but since he's coming to Knoxville, there's no real reason to be concerned.

I would think anyone who thinks respect can be gained via a message board...should really get out more. Some people feel the need to fall in line and sing "we are the world". I have never been that person..Sorry if that upsets you. I tend to look at things as they are. I don't make excuses, sugarcoat it, or claim things will get better as they always have. I don't bother to quote useless recruiting class results from years past as they have Nothing to do with this years class.

I am a reasonable person...WHEN our recruiting looks to be competitive with the rest of the SEC..I will be more positive. As of now...it's an absolute train wreck and looks worse every day. I am not asking for us to over take Bama, LSU, or AU today....but when we are about 10 recruits from climbing out of last place...Your not going to hear much of the posititve variety from me. :hi:

Lol. Wow. Just stop responding ro him so we don't have to read anything from him. Well, the ignore button does come in handy at times.

Because you are counting the next class. Who is to say Santos can not beat out the other incoming freshman in his class. If UA has 12 LBs this fall and 7 of them leave that only leaves 5 returning with experience. We only have 2 on the team come fall that are freshman, DePreist and Hubbard. Sunseri is listed on the roster as a DB and probably will play Saftey in certian packages. UA will only have 2 returning that see alot of play time.

So in essence any incoming LB will be competing for playing time against only 2 players who return with experience. Next you will have 3 that maybe see the field depending on what the others do. So Santos is only competing against 5 plus whatever comes in. With atleast 2 starting positions open.

UA plays a 3-4 so we have 4 LBs on the field. Even if all 5 returners make the 2 deep that leaves 3 spots for incoming freshman to grab. So now Santos is only competing with 5 others for those 3 spots. A 1 in 3 chance to see the field a UA as a freshman is not that bad. Especially if he is as good as most on here believe.

And to think UA isn't even that high on him! And actually it was 13 without the incoming freshmen in his class. With 7 leaving that's 6 plus the other 3 or 4 in his own class. Needless to say there will be players there that will provide competition where it would be easier for him to see the field if he came here. Imagine how easy it would be for one of the players that Bama actually thinks is high quality to come and start at UT.

Do not care about BAMA or Florida or any other team's depth chart. Please go back to BOL and Gator Talk or wherever you crawled out from. Dont you dudes must have anything else better to do than to come to a rivals board and act like you know something.
