Since this thread is currently all speculation and worry, I will pose a question that could possibly be answered logically.

If Santos is as good as the talk. #1 MLB. Why is he only a ***?

Before someone says that I'm a stargazer, I will go ahead and say it. Maybe I am. Maybe I like getting recruits with high rankings. But more importantly, I am curious about how that stars are assigned

Stargazer IMO

This is shaping up rather nicely. So. Planning will continue as soon as there is word from the Santos camp tonight. by the way...what do you think? Think we'll keep him?

I have a lot better feeling about it than I did a few days ago...But then bucball(see his post a few pages back) showed up and said that things are looking good for us..Go back and read that conversation that I had with that poster..I think you will feel better..So to answer your question directly, I think he will be a Vol in the end!!

A&M has a bigger fan base, more $, better academics, more resources......BUT I am just talking about football performance. TCU beat Big 10 Champ Wiscy in the Rose Bowl to cap off an undefeated & #3 ranked season. A&M hasn't fielded a team in decades that could have hung with that Wisconsin team. To say TCU wouldn't have "those years" in a BCS conference after thumping the Big 10 champ is ponderous to say the least.

Back to Santos.......are the rumors true that you guys are already trying to back-fill his spot? Do you think kids will be insulted that Tennessee wasn't in love with them all along (like people here are saying Santos should feel about Texas)?

Thumping? How do you define thumping a team? When I say a team got thumped, I mean they got their @sses handed to them. Wisconsin was a 2-point conversion away from tying that game up. And again, since you didn't bother responding to it the first time, TCU is 6-8 in its last 14 games against big 12 opponents.

I think maybe high school film has a part in that process..Just guessing b/c I am by no means an expert.:hi:

He is ESPN's #1 MLB. He is the 15th or 16th ILB on Rivals. 3 stars and 4 stars are both very good prospects. I really couldn't tell you the difference between a 5.9 and 5.8 Four star, or a 5.8 Four star and a 5.7 three star. Just trust our coaches. Hope that helps.

Fair enough. Thank you

Autocorrect on my phone. They aren't even the same type of linebacker. If Santos decommits and kirven, patterson, and Davis want to come, we aren't going to take robison.

You're assuming we don't lose anyone other than Santos. Lots can happen between now and then. If Santos confirms he is sticking with the Vols, I don't see Robison's offer being commitable anymore.

Haven't seen the stuff about Texas, but that is good news if true. I just don't see Dooley waiting this one out, and honestly I hope he doesn't. Put up or shut up time with the 25 rule.

Absolutely agree! With this new rule there is NO MORE playing around with the recruiting game...at least for the SEC. That may be the push that Sal puts on Dalton tonight...that we HAVE to know where he stands...we can't wait until NSD and then he decides to drop the bomb on us. We have to be up front with recruits, unlike Texas and other non-SEC schools, because we can't take the chance of not signing of full class when we need a full class. Next year will not be as big of a deal, because we can't sign a full class anyways next year.

I seen that. That was probably why I lightened up a bit haha. I think he's a Vol in the end too. The ONLY thing that scares me is that pretty much every visit this kid is saying he was "blown away", or "wowed", they've "given him something to think about". He won't be on the Texas campus til midnight Sunday so I think if Sal can call him for even 10 minutes and bring him back down to earth (preferably east Tennesssee) after the visit then we got him! that was much more long winded than I intended.

Well, there's obviously some disconnect between the ratings/rankings and the opinions of some coaches about this kid. Texas apparently was not much interested in him until a couple of weeks ago--and I'm quite sure they looked at his tape, saw him in person. I'm always cautious about kids that we sign from other states that haven't been recruited by the state school--often, but not always, a sign that the guy may not be quite as good as we think he is. Texas may simply have been wrong about the guy, of course.

I'm not denying that but if we have room we will take robison. With or without santos. If anything he was the back up to Richie brown

That's quite alright.. We all are a bit anxious right now but hopefully a little calmer.

Well..Sal and Joseph visits him tonight and so I have a feeling we will know a little more tonight..I'll be hanging around the computer off and on for the rest of the evening so I'll be around.

this strategy would be a catastrophe, imho. it is born out of fear, we wont land any top prospect via intimidation.

We can't afford to wait till signing day on Santos. I think this strategy tells the kid. Its a privilege to play at UT. Take it or leave it.

humbly agree to disagree. to try and dictate whom he visits, when is a*fearful position. relax, let the coaches work. DS is an American, he can wait till NSD to confirm his commit if he likes. going commie dictator on him will fail, imo.

Happens all the time. Saban does it at Bama, granted it's easier to do at Bama right now than Tennessee. I agree Santos has a right to wait, he may not have a commitable offer then though.
