If you were a player of his quality... how would you take it if you were told that you "might" have a slot or maybe you could come and pay your own way... I'd be ticked especially with other quality programs showing me love.
Davis had an offer, and missed the boat when USC picked up three wr commits in the summer in one weeks time who are just as good as Davis. One was South Carolina's Mr. Football. Those other programs are really latecomers to his recruitment too. How Davis didn't receive more offers earlier is surprising.

Actually, with one exception SC handled this the way I would hope that we are when we might have to gray-shirt a kid. Tell him upfront before he commits that he could either be gray-shirted or recruited over and that way there are no moral or ethical problems, no hurt feelings, no requests to transfer or claims that he was lied to. That is definitely the way to do it whether it is for a potential gray-shirt or for being recruited over.
Where I think SC made a mistake is to make it public that his offer could end up in a gray-shirt or being recruited over. No reason to ever embarrass a kid you want to be a part of your team -- let it come up when the circumstances warrant, not before.
I very much hope that this is the way Dooley is handling it, although I have my doubts. We should always fully disclose to the kid where he stands before he commits. To do it any other way is both immoral and unethical.

I think the kid has an attitude problem & will be a problem wherever he goes. When gaffney lost the state championship game he went straight to the locker room. No hand shake, good game, or anything & didn't show for the ceremony right after when both teams received their medals. He was a shoe in for Mr Football in SC but the director of high school athletics let it be known then he wouldn't get it & the kid from Lexington got it. Maybe his attitude will change but right now he is an "all about me" player. I heard his grades were suspect as well.
The only assumption is his grades. The rest are facts.
Your assuming he has a bad attitude for not coming out of the locker room after losing a state championship game. For all you know the kid was upset and didn't wana leave. You might be right about his attitude but your reasoning is very suspect.
You're dumb. I'm not assuming he has a bad attitude hell everybody at the state game saw it. Jerome Singleton saw it & he didnt get Mr Football. They cruised through regular season & had assumed they were state champs. They lost & he shows his true colors & runs off the field. If you think that's cool then that says a lot about you.

You just called me dumb for telling you you are assuming and you are. I even said you might be right but no reason to publicize that you think the kid won't make it somewhere bc he walked off the field after losing a championship game. Your reasoning sucks. And I don't remember saying it was cool. I said he might be upset. 17 year old kids losing championship games probably affect them a little. So you calling out a kid when your info is suspect and calling me dumb for not even disagreeing just saying you don't know what all went down shows a lot about you.
It's not assuming anything when it's a fact the director of high school sports tell you that an award you had locked up is no longer yours because you choose to act like an ass because you lose a game. When you're on the sideline acting like T.O. & everybody sees it it's kind of embarrassing to you & your school. Coaches recruiting him see it too.
Oh lord, the weekly recruiting ethics post from mlsoft. If we always ascribed to "honoring" accepted commitments we'd be mired in mediocrity and/or kids would end up transferring cause they're unhappy with lack of playing time. No reason to make them waste 2 years of their career when they could've been playing elsewhere. Things always have a way of working themselves out the way they're meant to be.

Your a good poster man I agree with most things you say. I just don't think what youre saying is a reason to call the kid a problem. I've only heard of this one incidence. One thing doesn't make a person. And also idk where your getting all this info and I never saw him leave the field. You keep saying he acted bad but your only example is him walking away. I don't see how that alone will make him a "problem for whatever program"
Ok believe that if you want.
Shaq Roland is a national top 50 player, and the top player in South Carolina.
However, Quinshad is a good player that won an award that includes academic achievement and personal character as a criteria for selection: Th Gatorade Award
Grade problems...with a 3.41 GPA?
