'12 SC WR Quinshad Davis

He wouldn't have to pay his own way, he just wouldn't enroll in school until January 2013. I agree that it likely won't happen.

The other thing is that USC didn't just come talk to Quinshad this week, he had an offer way back in the spring but decided to wait on his college choice. USC filled up at WR but always kept in contact with him. Now as the recruiting class is coming to a close and things are starting to clear up such as possible transfers, kids committed who will have trouble qualifying, an injury to a kid that may force a greyshirt, and missing out on some other targets.... USC is seeing that they may have a spot for Quinshad and reaffirmed the offer to him. Its very possible that on signing day Quinshad is faxed a LOI from USC, whether he signs it or not will be up to him.

If you were a player of his quality... how would you take it if you were told that you "might" have a slot or maybe you could come and pay your own way... I'd be ticked especially with other quality programs showing me love.

Davis had an offer, and missed the boat when USC picked up three wr commits in the summer in one weeks time who are just as good as Davis. One was South Carolina's Mr. Football. Those other programs are really latecomers to his recruitment too. How Davis didn't receive more offers earlier is surprising.

Just telling you how I would play it... and hope that UT is playing it. And don't complain, SOS is a serial negative recruiter.

Actually, with one exception SC handled this the way I would hope that we are when we might have to gray-shirt a kid. Tell him upfront before he commits that he could either be gray-shirted or recruited over and that way there are no moral or ethical problems, no hurt feelings, no requests to transfer or claims that he was lied to. That is definitely the way to do it whether it is for a potential gray-shirt or for being recruited over.

Where I think SC made a mistake is to make it public that his offer could end up in a gray-shirt or being recruited over. No reason to ever embarrass a kid you want to be a part of your team -- let it come up when the circumstances warrant, not before.

I very much hope that this is the way Dooley is handling it, although I have my doubts. We should always fully disclose to the kid where he stands before he commits. To do it any other way is both immoral and unethical.

However, there's know way to know how Dooley handles these situations if he, in fact, keeps it private.

USCe didn't make it public that the offer was a grey shirt. That would have to of come from the kid.

Oh lord, the weekly recruiting ethics post from mlsoft. If we always ascribed to "honoring" accepted commitments we'd be mired in mediocrity and/or kids would end up transferring cause they're unhappy with lack of playing time. No reason to make them waste 2 years of their career when they could've been playing elsewhere. Things always have a way of working themselves out the way they're meant to be.

I think the kid has an attitude problem & will be a problem wherever he goes. When gaffney lost the state championship game he went straight to the locker room. No hand shake, good game, or anything & didn't show for the ceremony right after when both teams received their medals. He was a shoe in for Mr Football in SC but the director of high school athletics let it be known then he wouldn't get it & the kid from Lexington got it. Maybe his attitude will change but right now he is an "all about me" player. I heard his grades were suspect as well.

there are a lot of ASSumptions in this post.

There was an article over on CT that said QD may waiy until after signing day. The kid did not like the idea of greyshirting. It doesn't sound like he wants to go to SC.

The only assumption is his grades. The rest are facts.

Your assuming he has a bad attitude for not coming out of the locker room after losing a state championship game. For all you know the kid was upset and didn't wana leave. You might be right about his attitude but your reasoning is very suspect.

You're dumb. I'm not assuming he has a bad attitude hell everybody at the state game saw it. Jerome Singleton saw it & he didnt get Mr Football. They cruised through regular season & had assumed they were state champs. They lost & he shows his true colors & runs off the field. If you think that's cool then that says a lot about you.

You just called me dumb for telling you you are assuming and you are. I even said you might be right but no reason to publicize that you think the kid won't make it somewhere bc he walked off the field after losing a championship game. Your reasoning sucks. And I don't remember saying it was cool. I said he might be upset. 17 year old kids losing championship games probably affect them a little. So you calling out a kid when your info is suspect and calling me dumb for not even disagreeing just saying you don't know what all went down shows a lot about you.

He was not a shoe in for Mr. football in South Carolina. The top rated recruit in South Carolina was the wr from Lexington who had far more offers than Davis.

It's not assuming anything when it's a fact the director of high school sports tell you that an award you had locked up is no longer yours because you choose to act like an ass because you lose a game. When you're on the sideline acting like T.O. & everybody sees it it's kind of embarrassing to you & your school. Coaches recruiting him see it too.

Your a good poster man I agree with most things you say. I just don't think what youre saying is a reason to call the kid a problem. I've only heard of this one incidence. One thing doesn't make a person. And also idk where your getting all this info and I never saw him leave the field. You keep saying he acted bad but your only example is him walking away. I don't see how that alone will make him a "problem for whatever program"

Or perhaps Dooley could wait a while before offering then accepting the commitments of marginal type recruits. That is the way most coaches handle the problem and it is the correct way.

If Dooley truly believes he has a SEC caliber player, then offer him and live with it. If he is unsure and the kid has a poor offer list, wait a while before giving a committable offer. Dooley is a great recruiter, but I have never seen a coach at a major program who so aggressively pursues marginal players early in the recruiting season. It will hurt us down the road and may already have in Georgia.

I am ok with it if he is telling these kids before they commit that they might be recruited over or grayshirted and I hope that is exactly what he is doing, but I have my doubts that is what is happening.

I'm a Byrnes alumn & former player. I have close friends that coach football & other friends that get a lot of info. I also see what I see. When things go good he's just the cocky type. When things go bad it's because he didn't get the ball enough & the tirade at the state game was unacceptable along with leaving the field & showing no class after a loss.

Shaq Roland is a national top 50 player, and the top player in South Carolina.

However, Quinshad is a good player that won an award that includes academic achievement and personal character as a criteria for selection: Th Gatorade Award

Grade problems...with a 3.41 GPA?

I wasn't sure about grades if you had read. He does go to gaffney. The rest means you know less than me.
