'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

The problem with Florida fans is they're not completely grounded in why they have had success and why their little two decade lucky train is about to derail.

Before Spurrier, Florida football was a joke. You had an extremely good football coach that had CPF's number. When he left, you went back to sucking. You then got lucky again with Tim Tebow. The reason CUM left is because he knew he had nothing without Tim running the ball on 3rd and short to get the first down. Even the first year, when Tim was not the starting QB and Leak was it was Timmy who came in and bailed your sorry offense out of a jam and got another first down.

Timmy ain't coming back. Neither is Spurrier. You also now have a FSU team that is on the rise again and a coach (our coach) who isn't scared of your team like CPF was.

There is panic in your fanbase because many of you who have been around long than just the last 15 years know that FSU coming back and all the changes going on with your team could easily send you back into the abyss you were in before you got lucky in hiring Spurrier.

You also know that all it is going to take is one more average season and all your future recruits are FSU or Miami or (as is the case here with Humphries) headed to TN.

90% of your fans are bandwagon fans. You go 2 seasons .500 and your fanbase is gone.

I for one can't wait to see it.

I hate when fans of other teams say we aren't gonna be back and I am not about to say that about Florida. I think they will be okay.

It's two hours at best to a small beach. Not a short drive. Short Relative to you but not to floridians. Beach is a garbage "plus" that out of state people include. It's nowhere near a beach

Exactly! To me and alot of other recruits that don't live in the state of Florida, 2 hours is a very short drive to a beach.

I wish you were right on this, but I don't think you are. Florida is an easy, easy school to recruit to. State is loaded with talent, and who doesn't want to go to school and party within a short drive to the beach. We can pass Florida, but if we're Harry Potter, FL will always be Voldemort, if we're Superman, they're gonna be Lex Luther, that's just the way it's going to be IMO.

Go to gainesville sometime. It's a hole.

Bobbie Bowden's decline had as much to do with Florida's rise as anything. All it will take is FSU add Miami to become top 10 schools again and Florida will be in trouble.

Please tell me this is a joke? You can be a moron and hate Florida all you want, but the fact that they are in a talent-rich state (FSU can't sign 90 players from Florida in a year), have amazing facilities, and a great education will always have them in the thick of things. This is one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen, and I've seen a ton.

Your right Fl is a talent rich state but Fl also did suck before Spurrier. COllege football is cyclical. Problem is I dont think your old enough to have witnessed these cycles. I'm not saying Fl will ever suck again but they will have dips. Just the way it works.

I'm over 16, and there are people there, at the beach. I get your point, but you can't tell me that places with great weather, mild winters, and are near beaches aren't attractive to 18 year old kids. USC and the Florida schools thrive in recruiting for these and of course other reasons.

This is exactly right. Not every school in Fl can be top dog and it will not always be Fl. They better be watching out for Fl St.

FSU finished in the top 4 every year from 1987 to 2000. That was during the most significant time of the Spurrier era.

Can't believe I'm defending UF...

Not Gainesville for the beach. Maybe USF miami or FAU. This isn't about weather. It's about the beach. Be over 16 all you want but Gainesville people rarely drive to the beach. Trust me.

I lived in Orlando for 10 years and driving 2 hours to the beach for a day trip is nothing and Floridians do it all the time and don't mind it at all. Trust me, he could find a ride to the beach from a Florida native every day if he wanted to. It's two hours or less to a nice beach, Daytona Beach, from there, way less to a "small" beach.

Tallahassee and Miami are much nicer cities.

Florida is fine. Let's go back to worrying about ourselves, before we start picking Florida apart.

That being said, I really like the position we are putting ourselves in. Especially on offense.

I have many friends at UF a beach trip is rare through everyone they know. Maybe 'cause we grew up by the beach in melbourne. My point is the beach isn't a key point to Gainesville. FAU, Miami, USF etc are. He couldn't find it every day or every weekend. That's crap.

+1 on everything but the beer.

Not at
VN...here it's a 9 month, 7 x 24, non-stop sprint. And if anyone dares take a break to catch their breath, there will be 4,000 posts wondering what the hell is wrong and who is responsible. Include about a thousand references to Fullmer and Kiffen, with a healthy dose of second-guessing and cynicism thrown towards Dooley.

And then we'll open up our second bottle of beer.

Florida will never be a .500 program...too much instate talent, big time boosters, SEC money and one of the Top 5 AD's in the nation, for that to happen. Only probation could derail the program(again).
