Michigan is two years behind where we are in rebuilding their program, which has been rebuilding for the past 5 years. They will not win anymore than they did last year. He said he may commit Oct 7. That is positive for us if we can beat Florida. The month of October will be hell for us in the win column, so I would think that would be a time Dooley would like to have a kid like this commit. He has said numerous times he wants to play in the South. Wore a UT hat to Bama camp, and is saying the same thing every kid says about the in state schools when they want to go out of state to keep the local pressure off. I don't think he is a lock, and I do think Michigan has made up ground, but I don't see a reason to jump off a cliff yet. The official visit will be when Dooley seals the deal IMO. Some of you guys really need to chill out with the ups and downs of recruiting. Smarter people than us have felt good about our chances here for awhile. Dooleys history has been good with recruits that we have lead for over a long period of time. That and Dooley has a better than 70% commitment rate for recruits that take an official visit. Even if he has sat up there and the in state schools have pulled ahead of us do to lack of contact, O'Brien will be reminded why we were his first love. Volnation really needs to take a chill pill on this one. Wait to freak out if he waffles on taking an official visit here. Then there would be a legitimate reason for all this specualation. Articles written by Michigan writers will always be pro Michigan schools.

Wait, you think that article pointed towards Michigan? I guess it was where they were pressuring him to commit, and he didn't is what made you think that :birgits_giggle:

Yea a bunch of recruits pressuring him but not the coaches. Good catch.... :ermm:

Lol one article and you all panic like little girls. Typical.

It's not the one article causing the feeling of unease. It's the fact/perception that Mich didn't have a spot for him, yet he remained uncommitted. Now all of the sudden, it sounds like they do have room for him. So now, perhaps there always was, competition for his services.

Exactly.

Obrien's had multiple visits to UT. He has gotten to know the staff. Knows what CDD and this program are about. Knows about our traditions and facilities and how big of a need there is for DT's right now. I just have a feeling that if he were truly impressed with everything UT offers and wanted to be a Vol he would have committed by now. Like Pace and others have mentioned, his behavior points to him wanting to be a Wolverine and giving UM every last ditch opportunity to make room for him, despite the fact that we were on him early. Some argue that he's just playing the recruiting game and wants to take official visits. Well who's to say you still can't do that while being publicly committed to a school? Recruits do that all the time. If some on here are right and he is truly undecided, then I still think all things point to a UM commitment for the simple fact that it's the hometown school. If all other things are equal between UT and UM, surely the the hometown school wins out.

The staff feels VERY good about O'Brien. He is a BIG part of this class.

That some people on here will still flunk this reading comprehension test.

Because an anonymous person says they feel good we should believe it? Talk about fail...

Hope he is a vol he is clearly my favorite of the class but I just don't like the Michigan ties.
