Dooley has backed off of his desire to not have recruits come for ov's during our season, citing the increasing tendency for top recruits to commit earlier.

Maybe Dooley just didn't like OV's on game week last year because we sucked.
Sometimes they are necessary....I'm sure he still prefers to have them on a week where he can focus more time on the recruit instead of having to prepare for a game. He wants to devote as much time to these kids and its a lot easier when he's not focused on winning on a given Saturday.

If he doesn't commit immediately after or during the LSU visit, then I would think he isn't coming here. I think we have to like our chances if that's the case. That weekend is going to be nuts.

I don't understand the silent committment thing. It basically comes down to the kid is undecided between UT and UM. There is no reason to be a silent commit to any team. When you are 100% sure, you pull the trigger. The coaches may ask you to wait in a case where they are not sure how many spots thay have left in a class but in this case, there is no reason for O'Brien to hold off his announcement unless he is unsure.

Public backlash.

Or he could just offer all the recruits that have him ranked #1 and keep resetting until he gets insta-commits from them.

My favorite.

Because if they don't insta-commit, for whatever stupid reason you drop immediately in their top three the very next week haha

False.

If you live in a heavy Michigan fan base and constantly getting blasted to go there or even Mich St, why would you announce for a school you know isnt going to be received well with those around you?

Most kids are silent for that very reason, they know where they want to go but dont want everyone else especially those around them to know.
