I don't know what will happen, but I knew as soon as I heard he was camping there the rumors would start spinning out of control. VQ has a thread stating that O'Brien is committing to Michigan tomorrow, FWIW. I know he said no leaders recently, but then I heard that he was most interested in learning more about UT and Bama. Also read he had been showing up for camps sporting UT gear. Who knows. I can't believe this is going to happen, IMO. Kind of reminds me of how everyone out there outside of the UT boards said that Arnett was anything but a VOL.

I know I have seen a pic of him sporting a Vols Camo Hat with a Power T on it. I like most on here felt real good about him. I then saw a picture of him a week later sporting head to toe Michigan gear....It will suck BIG TIME if we lose this kid.

The fact that no one has signed on the dotted line yet. Oh yeah, and it's June.

"It's June" isn't a reason to optimistic. I'd like to see some quality DT names popping up on this board. I'm not even talking about getting commitments...Dooley likes to play it slow, that's fine with me if it pays off down the road. What I'm saying is it doesn't seem like we are even targeting that many good DT prospects and they are getting picked up daily.

Even having 2-3 that have said Tennessee is their clear leader would ease the worry some. The few we are being mentioned with seem to have possible grade issues. The staff seems to think they have Borne in their hip pocket but how long will a quality DT sit back and wait while you try to recruit over him? Nothing about our DL recruiting looks favorable at this time. "It's only June" just does not cut it.

And we aren't mentioned as a leader for a single quality DE and other than Tyrone Neal, LB too.

Might as well laugh at it. Its comical at this point.

It won't be so funny if our DT class looks like it did last year. Yes, we REALLY needed DTs last year. It did not turn out so well did it? Hughes is gone, lost 2 more on the DL today...I don't think its anything to laugh about as a fan.

Over on VQ, Hubbs stated that O'Brien is scheduled to camp in July. He didn't directly say anything about the Michigan camp. I think he is trying to diffuse the situation without coming out and giving too much away.

With all three combined having 11 solo tackles solo and 12 assisted, I'm not freaking out.

It's not the playing time I am worried about. It's getting to a point where even in blowouts, your starters have to keep taking snaps as there is noone else to go in. Also, I like to think practices go alot smoother when you have guys to run in and out. "Bray get in there at Nose" is not something I would like to hear.

I'm laughing to stay sane. Didn't think it was hard to understand. I understand what we need, and at what positions we need it most.

Sykes,Jeffrey,Hughes,V. Thomas gone<Couch, Carson, Saulsberry,C. Miller/D. Hood converted. More bodies there than last year with(arguably i guess) more upside. If Bray didn't get looks at DT last year i think we are safe.:salute:

Everyone seems to like the saying "It's only June" but if all the DTs are off the board and commited elsewhere then it might as well be Feb. It does appear that the glass half full crowd may get a wake up call shortly.

They'll talk up the next 2* or 3* talent as the most underated prospect in history that only Tennessee coaches were able to "discover".

The front 7 recruiting as a whole has been a joke considering the need they have there. If there is an area where they need to land some big-time players that is where it is.

The bottom line is they could replace the current level of talent in the front 7 with a bunch of fillers of equal talent and a lot of people on here would still be happy.

These are very presumptious statements...I'm on here as much as you and I would say that while there are some that act this way there are also others that freak out everytime a highly rated prospect we're after commits somewhere else...neither approach is rational this early in the process IMO...

Our current front 7 is definitely scary...but to imply this staff fills their needs with 2 and 3 stars is inaccurate...

Last year OUR most glaring needs were OL and DB and our staff responded to that by bringing in six Rivals 4*'s (Richardson, Jackson, Moore, Lanier, Coleman, Martin), 3 guys that were 4*'s on at least one other recruiting site (Kerbyson, Posey, Orta), two 4*'s that didn't count in the rankings (Bullard and Loften), and one high 3* that is universally considered to be underrated (Randolph)...

This year we need at least 2 LB's and 2 DL's that can play immediately and at least 1 LB and 2 DL's that can be big time contributors in year 2 or 3....we're talking about 6-7 players in a recruiting class that is loaded (especially in the South) with front 7 players...

After seeing the way this staff addressed the 2 most glaring needs we had last year I have complete faith that on signing day we will all be pleased with our LB and DL haul...and it won't be 2 and 3 stars we're talking about

If we close with these four at DT, then Dooley did good work.

Last year the OL and Defensive Backfield were definitely big needs. But I wouldn't say those two positions were the "biggest" needs. The entire front 7 was right up there with them in terms of needs in last year's class and they just came up short. While they landed a few good individual prospects, they didn't come close to addressing the Linebacking corp and Defensive front like I'm sure they wished they had. Last year they were as far behind in the front 7 as they were on the Oline and at DB.

We will see what happens in this class, but it has to be a really good class in the front 7 for this to be considered a successful haul IMO. And that doesn't mean just signing a bunch of guys at those positions. It means signing a bunch of talented difference makers at those positions, and at least 2 or 3 that can play very early.

+1. That would be a good haul that overall will increase the level of talent at DT. If they can land a DT class like that and a group of DE's and LB's like that then I'd be eccstatic with this class. It's a must they get a lot better at those 3 positions in this class IMO.

Exactly. Agree 100%
