Yeah big orange fever's post. You see a lot of that when people comment about how the talent needs to be upgraded.

It's as though everyone Tennessee signs is who the staff preferred over all others when the reality is a lot of them could very well have been B-listers or C-listers on the staff's list and the staff just didn't get the guys they actually would have preferred to get.

The staff thankfully wants to get elite talent in here or they wouldn't be offering all these guys that are heading to the LSU, Alabama, and Florida's of the world.

I was just joking around because he said que the "I'll trust the coaches opinion" posts. I know the coaches miss on people. Sorry for the confusion.

Not a problem. I've seen a lot of those posts on here. I wasn't signaling you out, I was just saying you see a lot of posts from people that say exactly that.

Yeah those people are annoying but equally as annoying are the ones who are hitting the panic button in June...

Thankfully...in my experience...both of those types of posters are not the norm here...but they tend to be very loud so it can often seem as if they are

I agree with that.

Hope you guys don't mind me posting these, just like sharing tidbits about recruits we are both targeting...here is the latest from today with Danny.

http://mgoblog.com/diaries/tomvh-dt-danny-obrien-talks-about-michigan-camp

TOM: How did the day go?

DANNY: Good, I tore it up. I didn't work out in the second part, I just kind of hung out and talked with everybody.

TOM: What was the outcome from this camp with Michigan? I know there was a discrepancy of sorts with being on the same page.

DANNY: There was basically some confusion during the spring on how they wanted things to go, and they told me they wanted me to come to camp and prove myself. They told me that there's basically only a couple defensive tackles with offers and they will probably only take one interior guy. They're going to recruit me really hard now and they gave me the pitch and everything.

TOM: So what's next? I know you told me the other day that you were going to come out with a top five soon.

DANNY: Yeah in July I'll come out with a top five. I don't have a leader anymore, I'm just going to evaluate all the schools in the top five and go from there.

TOM: Do you know when you want to have your final decision made?

DANNY: I'd like to take some official visits then make the decision late in the season or after the season, but I'm not sure yet.

No surprise, Michigan made it's big push once Brady Hoke became HC. Atm, probable Top 5 (in no particular order) Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Michigan, & Arkansas. Ones to watch LSU, ND, & Nebraska. I think it will eventually come down to Tennessee, Alabama, & Michigan.

Tennessee is very much in the game w/ some talented and high ranked (*4) DT's...
Day
Magee
O'Brien
James
Pipkins
Kirven
Johnson (JJ has expressed interest but Tennessee has yet to offer)
Ekakitie
and
Valentine.

That said, it is (only) June, much that can happen between now and NSD 2012.

I say it will be a Mich/TN battle. Bama will be full according to TideWarrior.

"He's always recruiting me,"O'Brien said. "He just wants me down there. He was telling me how they are going through summer workouts and how he loves Tennessee."
-VQ: Danny O'Brien talking about DeAnthony Arnett

Danny says Tennessee is still as strong as they have ever been in his recruitment and that he frequently talks to Peter Sirmon. He is not ruling out the possibility of enrolling in school in January.

It still doesn't sound like Michigan has cracked his top 3 from the Rivals articles. Still sounds like Tennessee, Michigan State, and Alabama.

from the Michigan people that I converse with, Michigan is very much in play. He just had a great camp up there, some even expected him to verbal but it didnt happen. His family Loves Michigan and he got to spend around 5-6 hours alone with their staff yesterday ...

Tennessee, Michigan State and Alabama, among others, have been the teams consistently leading O'Brien's list of favorites, but Michigan is starting to surge for the four-star prospect.

"They definitely improved a lot for me after this visit. My meetings went well with the coaches and I had a great time. I definitely rank them among my top schools.
-TheWolverine.com

The verbal commitment was wishful thinking.

UT has a very good shot at this young man, and, in fact, I read that other SEC teams already consider him a lock for the Vols. I believe the draw for him is playing in the SEC and getting away from the Michigan weather.[/COLOR]

Sorry, This

If it's true that Michigan is only going to take one more DT this year, then O'Brien is a Vol. I don't see any other schools beating us out for him.

I think you'll see Pipkins commit to Michigan, which should help us with Day.

Doesn't that just fire you up seeing new Vols already recruiting? That's a great sign for the direction of the program.

Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, and Iowa are hard after me right now."

Florida: "They are recruiting me to play the nose tackle position in the 3-4. Also I love Coach Young. I mean what a great person to learn from. He has tons of experience and accomplishments at the next level. It would be a great opportunity to learn from him. And the SEC again."

Tennessee: "They were my first offer and I have the best relationship with their coaches. I'm very comfortable with their coaches. I fit in very well with there defense."

Michigan: "They are my hometown school. Great staff and great defense. They also are putting together a great recruiting class some of my best friends are in the class too."

O'Brien says he will make a decision after the season and he says he is sure of one thing that will not go into his decision.

"Being the hometown team will not make Michigan my favorite I will pick the school that best fits me."-Rivals

Bottom line with this recruit as well as others. "You Win, They Will Come." These 5-7 win seasons will bring average talent. +9 wins on a consistent basis will bring in the elite talent we need. No one wants to be a loser. Yes, they can get an education, but that can be gotten anywhere. Winning and a good education is where it's at. If we ar winning this year, a lot of those on the fence recruits will jump to our side. If not we'll continue to miss on recruits to Bama, Aub, MissSt., UF, and yes Vandy.
