'12 LA DT Gerron Borne

If Dooley and Staff fail to land some big time DT's, his time in Knoxville may prove to be short. But they did land Couch and that is great. We need at least two studs in this recruiting class. Dooley's got to get it done.

I really do believe that we will get some much needed DT's this recruiting year. With the lure of early playing time and lack of depth I believe we will get three to four DT's rather JUCO or HS.

I hope you're not teasing me...really need 3.

Four would be better.

I'll take 3 studs but would settle for 2 studs and a couple of decent ones that could improve in time.

I would contend that we need 2 every year....but you're right, this year we need some depth...so 2 studs and 2 role players would suffice.

Borne just tweeted that he was thinking of ending the recruitment process early

It was in response (indirectly) to a question regarding when he was going to pull the trigger.

I don't understand not being excited about a DT committing to us, guys. ANY DT right now is a much-needed body letting us play our star DEs at their natural position. This guy could turn out to be the next Peria Jerry.

I want good players, not depth chart fillers.

I just don't think Borne is worth a scholarship at this point. It's like Andrew Power - Round 2.

I would agree with you 100% at this time last year, but with limited numbers we can't really afford to take as many chances as we would like with possible project DT's. With that said, I think Borne has the measureables to succeed in college, but at what level has yet to really be determined. He plays really high, and I think the reason he's yet to become a public commitment is the fact the coaches want him in camp first. If he has a dominate camp, he'll be a Vol, if he doesn't, I'm not sure the coaches will be willing to take that chance this early.

Like Eric said, he plays too high. If he has any work ethic and is able to correct that, he will probably pillage backfields and plunder qb's

Because the same coaches that recruited Jerry are there still.

If we wait to offer a guy based on what those idiots do, we are in big trouble.

You'll have to forgive my lack of excitement over beating out Illinois, Memphis, and Pitt for a recruit.

I wouldn't expect anything more out of you, SGM. At least this guy is most likely going to stick on the roster, which is more than you could predict for any of your precious Lane Kiffin's recruits. I don't care who else wants him, if he isn't on the team, he can't help. John Propst was real heavily recruited too. Guess he sucks though.

Illinois and Pitt both had more players drafted than we did, and both those schools had 1st round draft picks as well. Don't let any facts get in your way though.
