'12 LA DT Gerron Borne

Tennessee will likely have a maximum of 22 ships. O'Brien looks very likely. We do not need 5 DTs, we need 3. If the 3 are O'Brien, Shanks and Kirven, I do not think we will have room for this young man.

5 DT's!!!

Dont tease me HFH.

Imo this whole recruiting class could be filled with the front seven....5 DT's,5 DE's,and 10 LB's!

I've always thought this kid was a Vol when we decided to offer him, but I see us taking 3 or 4 DT. Dooley is kinda like Saban in a way I think. He seems to understand that teams are built up front. I could be wrong, but ultimately I think Borne will end up a Vol.

Gnm.

I would guess we will take 3 DTs. Of course, if we end up with 3 great ones and another is interested, we could end up with the 270 pound end. 4 DTs would not be a surprise.

We have been undersized for some of the multiple schemes Wilcox wants. Our D will probably end up looking more like Alabama than any other SEC team.

Our DE's like J Smith will need to be able to play standing up some times.

Our DTs? There will be the giants like Mo Couch, and there will be the guys like Malik Jackson who can easily slide to an outside rush on a needed play. Walls slid over in the same way.

I would guess we take
3 DTs
2 DEs
3-4 LBs.

I think we take Patterson at JUCO WR and maybe 1 other. I think we take less guys in the secondary than many other people seem to think we take.

Our staff has a scoring system (that includes character and intelligence) so we also can end up with 22 scholarships and taking a "best available" kind of player towards the end of the year when we get what I expect which is several talented players interested and room for less than all of them.

I would agree...but look at coach Dooley's recruiting record.1st year we were short Ol's and we signed five.2nd year he signed 4 more but saw we needed some DB's...so he signed six.It seems that wherever Coach Dooley see us as weak he drowns the position...or atleast tries to.This year our front 7 is not where it needs to be from a depth standpoint.

I agree. 3 DT's...4 maybe if they get guys at the top of their board. I also think at least 1 of the DT's will be a JUCO. As of right now I think O'Brien and Kirven are definitely realistic gets. If they are even fairly successful in DT recruiting for this class it is very possible Borne ends up not being a take. I guess we'll see.

Didn't realize we were actually in on Kirven.?

My guess would be Pantone 151

we need to get bourne cause alot of dt,s have narrowed down teams of interest, someone posted up list that we got shanks, kirvin, and obrian and didnt need bourn, but i looked at all dt,s we are recruiting on net at espnu, and rivals and a couple more ,were not too high on alot of there list as of now were high on borne list and obrian, and a 6,5 320 pound kid in mississippi has us a close second behind ole miss.

I don't think we can just pass on any DT's. We need bodies at the position and even if a kid is not ranked top 10 does not mean he can't play. I would take a true 280-300 pound DT over a converted 250 pound DE anyday. While our need at DT is obvious it seems not alot of the higher rated kids are headed to Knoxville this year. We just need 3-5 capable bodies IMO.

Keith Niebuhr from Rivals said they would like to see more film on Borne & are going to see him in person.

Be careful what you wish for:

Hughes, Jeffery and Victor Thomas come to mind

If Dooley and Staff fail to land some big time DT's, his time in Knoxville may prove to be short. But they did land Couch and that is great. We need at least two studs in this recruiting class. Dooley's got to get it done.

I 100% agree w/ this.
