'12 FL QB Nathan Peterman (UT signee)

Does anyone know our plan with Peterman? As in, are we gonna redshirt him his first year? I think we should. We have Worley right now as Brays backup and the chances of both getting hurt are pretty low (knocks on wood). Anybody heard anything?

There is only speculation. However, I suspect that they may redshirt at the end of the season, assuming he hasn't taken any snaps. I think it has been Dooley's policy to only assign redshirt status after the season.

I see, thanks. Makes sense, but I don't get the waiiting part. You can always declare redshirt status at the beginning of the year and still pull it if needed at anytime. Still, redshirting him would be the best road to take IMHO

it's useless and accomplishes nothing to declare a redshirt before the end of the season

in the last 20 years I've witnessed the #1 and #2 qb's for UT go down twice. If #3 was a true freshman that had been told he was going to redshirt does he still put in the work required to be ready?

One would bet that if a kid was told he was going to redshirt they most likely will not work as hard. I want to believe otherwise with Peterman giving the kind of attitude and character this kid has.

Anyway, I wasn't really trying to argue that he should redshirt now. I was just wanting to know what the plan was for him.

We have had to start a true freshman quarterback for the past 2 years. It would not surprise me to see injuries forcing Peterman to come in with the luck UT has had so far.

Let's just hope that luck has turned. I'm tired of us having to play inexperienced QB's. Or incompetent QB's.

He clearly wasn't watching the game film of Simms, otherwise he would have known he would be called in at some point.

But seriously, you do have to wonder if he didn't put in the work early on because he thought he would RS. Maybe he thought Nance really was higher than him on the depth chart.

Definitely. He was like a coach on the field. Even when he was pulled from games early due to big leads, which happened in about 8 games, he stood by his backup and coached him up between series. When the offense was in, he signaled in the plays.

He knows his stuff and for him it's all about the team.

He's a high character guy too, so he models good behavior as well.

He's just a great kid.
