I see the leadership, mobility, and athleticism of Heath Shular; and the passing and football smarts of Andy Kelly in him at this point. Some mighty big upside in Nate. Can obviously see why they passed on Gunner.

I see, thanks. Makes sense, but I don't get the waiiting part. You can always declare redshirt status at the beginning of the year and still pull it if needed at anytime. Still, redshirting him would be the best road to take IMHO

A coachs thought is if you redshirt before the season the player wont put as much effort in the weight/film room. Now if theres a chance he might play they feel the player will give more effort...

Dep,
How complex was his HS offense?
Thanx,
1Vol

Pro-style, pretty balanced run/pass. They ran shotgun but Nate also took snaps under center.

As for complex,it wasn't like they ran the spread, but they did run some option and often ran 1 running back with 2 tight ends that ran routes more often than blocked.

Of the schools I watched, Bartram's definitely wasn't a vanilla offense.

Definitely. He was like a coach on the field. Even when he was pulled from games early due to big leads, which happened in about 8 games, he stood by his backup and coached him up between series. When the offense was in, he signaled in the plays.

He knows his stuff and for him it's all about the team.

He's a high character guy too, so he models good behavior as well.

He's just a great kid.

Thanks Dep.

I was looking at his Scout page, and saw where he wasn't offered by 3 schools he attended camp(Clemson, UConn, and FSU). Not sure if this means anything, but wondering why.

It makes me wonder about the situation of the programs at those schools when he went to the camps. It's also well talked about though that his throwing motion changed midway/late in his HS career and he came on to the scene a little later than most. To finish his HS career with going to the state semifinals for the 2nd time in his program's history, be a runner up for FL's Mr. Football, the #1 Pro-style QB in the State of FL and 8th in the nation tells me all those other schools missed out.

I think Scout may have it wrong though - I'm not sure he ever went to UCONN's camp yet he did hold an offer from them. I think UCONN was actually in his top 5 at one point. I also heard he went to FSU's camp a couple times and both times was seen being invited to talk with Coach Fisher afterwards. So who knows what went on there... maybe FSU was waiting on another prospect they were chasing before throwing out another offer.

Regardless, I'm convinced we've got a stud.

I am glad the staff locked him up early and pretty much ignored the rest. He is ideally suited for the offense and as a leader for the team.

Peterman deserves a bump. He's been one of the most solid recruits to UT, hence the silence in his thread.

There is something about him that makes me more optimistic than normal about a prospect.

Me too.. That quiet confidence? Watch out for those dudes, they can be dangerous!

Most of the guys who EE see their threads die down b/c there is no drama on their recruitment. I'm glad he's on board with us. He deserves the recognition. Nice thread bump.

Reminds me a lot of Colt McCoy. Great leader, similar size, pretty mobile, throws a pretty good ball, and he's a winner.

I think he'll be a better Qb. Peterman has the tools to be one of our best QBs. I think he'll take over after Bray and be a great starter for us.

Yep. Everyone should be excited about this signing but Justin Worley. That's not a knock on Worley, because I think he has some nice skills and will be a good QB, but I think Peterman has that "it." Excited to see how the QB depth chart progresses in the next 2 years. Nice problem to have.

I've yet to see him play in person, but his film is impressive and he is a highly rated pro-style quarterback. The thing that I like about him is that he seems more Peyton than Tyler in mentality.

I'm not making a shot at Tyler, but unfortunately he seems not as mentally resilient. He is a competitor no doubt, but Peterman comes across as humble. A humble competitor is rare and dangerous.

I know this is a UT board and I hate Florida, but Tebow is a humble competitor. Guy takes little individual credit, works extremely hard, sportsman, yet the fiercest competitor on the field.

Okay I'm done....

(I feel gross praising a Gator...)

Tyler is a little more fiery. He seemed very resilent to me. Especially games like the Florida and Vandy. The Georgia game he had one receiver and a TE that was getting pushed down all over the place. I have no problems with Tyler's mental resilency at all right now. We must remember we were watching a 19 year old kid last year. I remember how much of a little hot head I was at 19. Hahahahaha

I see an Ice man mentality in this one. I can see him sayin " Don't worry coach, we got this" The quite, confident ones are scariest!

I don't worry about his resilience as much as I do his mental capacity. I know it hasn't hurt us thus far, because he reads the d pretty well and has great instincts. However, his interviews definitely don't hint at a mental giant.
