Thats right I said last week. Skyler chose stanford the Penn. st. Gunner keil, Tyler cameron and Chad Voytik was mentioned. I apologize thats four.

I think this is an appropriate time for me to reiterate this post:

Dooley and staff are secretive. Skeeter claims to be an insider. He seems to be a straight guy. Maybe he is. Even so... the coaches can also be wrong about where they stand with a recruit.

It seems that the staff is carefully coaching the guys who are really interested in UT not to talk too much. They seem to almost demand that a kid be absolutely sure before making a public commitment.

You have two sides to this where you might get info- the staff and the recruit. Info from neither side is as clean and open as it once was.

I do not know why they're so cloak and dagger... I just hope that it works in the end.

Here's my take:

1) No one really knows what they are looking for that causes them to have such a hair trigger with some kids. Several off the radar recruits have just shown up like this as commits. It could be that the coaches evaluate and have a "score" in mind then when someone shows the right interest with the right "score" then they snag them. It could be as some have suggested that they gauge interest and move on if they calculate that someone is wasting their time and will ultimately spurn them.

2) This staff moves on rather than staying on kids. Kiffin and company decided who they wanted and relentlessly pursued those guys. Dooley and staff seem to decide "what" they want then find someone who fits the bill. I don't know which is better or if either/both work.

3) They are taking some of these guys when supposedly better players are at least publicly still interested. This staff is either that confident or that conceited about their ability to evaluate talent. I guess we'll see when it works or fails.

4) There are few if any "real" insiders. Apparently scooter and a few others work around the program and hear the open conversations. No one seems to know what goes on when the staff closes the door to talk recruiting. No one is leaking very much. They aren't trusting Hubbs or anyone else with the recruiting svcs.

5) Unlike the last two staffs, these guys seem to genuinely care less about class rankings. Kiffin and Cut pretty publicly politicked for recruits to get bumped in the ratings (Taylor and Coleman).

6) As frustrating as it may be for some, we probably aren't going to get alot more info in the future. We will have to wait until they let us see what's under the tree.

Kiel was the #1 QB on the board IIRC so I'll give you him.

Skyler was offered but never pursued heavily.

Cameron was offered after came & pursued BUT the staff had him if they wanted him & took Peterman instead.

Voytik was never even in consideration, staff never liked him.

Thank you for making my point - I can count on one hand the number of people who have actually seen the recruiting board the coaches use. Trust me, its different than the threads you read here all the time.

You mean all of these posters that think they know everything really don't know everything?

If Skyler wasn't being recruited hard then Brent Hubbs is a liar. I think they would have taken Cameron if he would have come.

For all of the knowledge that this site claims to have you sure have short memories. I read these recruiting threads all the time and five other qbs were mentioned but he wasn't. I love how no matter who commits, everybody on the site(including the mods)act like that player was the best ever even if they had never been mentioned. Whatever you freaking homers.

Then leave chump.

Voytik is a 4star qb thats being recruited by everybody in the south and he's rated the #6 ps qb in the country. But the staff didn't like him?

There was stuff on volquest for a month about how close the staff and skyler had become and how much contact there had been between them.

And that means he is high on our board? You do realize they could have been keeping in good contact in case they didn't feel good about someone else and wanted to push him to commit.

You think if they had the choice that they take this kid over Skyler? Thats just stupid.
