There was stuff on volquest for a month about how close the staff and skyler had become and how much contact there had been between them.

staffs contact hundreds of kids a year and look at countless film to decide who they want to pursue. a lot of this contact is intended to get these kids to camp so they can see them i person. in peterman's case his recruitment was quiet until they got him they got him to camp. jim chaney liked what he saw in person and thats good enough for me. based on hubbs comments the staff obviously saw something in skyler that caused them to back of their contact with him.

My father in law's secretary is Nate's aunt. Her son (Nate's cousin) spoke to him today and he said he's 100% committed and will shut it all down. Their family believed a UF offer, if it would come (which I highly doubt), would've swayed him. But Nate assured his Nashville family that will not be the case no matter what.

Although we all figured this to be the case, its still nice to hear. Dooley is definitely getting the right type of athletes that we can be proud of if nothing else. Just thought I'd pads that tidbit along.

If he wasn't in our top three last week then why the sudden circle jerk on this site over his commitment? If he doesn't pick up a forth star then what? Cincy fans are devastated by his decison.

It's very good to be hearing from someone who is on the coaching staff. Oh, you aren't on the staff...

I think every one with any sense/knowledge realizes that Rivals will give him that precious 4th star to meet your approval.

I don't understand why a guy who constantly says that he is the only one that knows what he is talking about would take this board's word for who our top QB prospects would be.

This pickup is a win win. The kid shows some promise and it shouldn't scare off a Top QB prospect next year.

I think this is an appropriate time for me to reiterate this post:

Here's my take:

1) No one really knows what they are looking for that causes them to have such a hair trigger with some kids. Several off the radar recruits have just shown up like this as commits. It could be that the coaches evaluate and have a "score" in mind then when someone shows the right interest with the right "score" then they snag them. It could be as some have suggested that they gauge interest and move on if they calculate that someone is wasting their time and will ultimately spurn them.

2) This staff moves on rather than staying on kids. Kiffin and company decided who they wanted and relentlessly pursued those guys. Dooley and staff seem to decide "what" they want then find someone who fits the bill. I don't know which is better or if either/both work.

3) They are taking some of these guys when supposedly better players are at least publicly still interested. This staff is either that confident or that conceited about their ability to evaluate talent. I guess we'll see when it works or fails.

4) There are few if any "real" insiders. Apparently scooter and a few others work around the program and hear the open conversations. No one seems to know what goes on when the staff closes the door to talk recruiting. No one is leaking very much. They aren't trusting Hubbs or anyone else with the recruiting svcs.

5) Unlike the last two staffs, these guys seem to genuinely care less about class rankings. Kiffin and Cut pretty publicly politicked for recruits to get bumped in the ratings (Taylor and Coleman).

6) As frustrating as it may be for some, we probably aren't going to get alot more info in the future. We will have to wait until they let us see what's under the tree.
Scooter? Really?

Just watched the tape.

He throws a beautiful ball and has some athletic upside. Not much to complain about with this one.

Inside TN tweet

Florida-based Scout.com analyst Mike Bakas on Nate Peterman: "Nice pickup. Best QB in the state, IMO. He's the real deal. Better QB prospect that Kyle Parker (same HS) at that age. Nate's the real deal and a great kid."

He will be a 4 star soon too and that will cut down some of the negative stuff about him. They must have really liked him knowing we WERE in good shape with Cameron. Kid wants to be a Vol and his mom knows the words to Rocky Top. Cant ask for much more than that.

6'1''. Unless you know more than rivals does.

You realize Rivals takes height and weight measures from whoever they can get them from. Friends, girlfriends, basically anyone. Their measurements have been proven to be BS several times in the past. Rarely are they confirmed height, weight from camps. You might want to stop.

I know this brings no insight to the discussion, but just sayin'.
