'11 TE Eric MacLain

I don't know what that has to do with your post. You said "I told you so." That's even what you told CBC when you heard he committed. I want to know where we were told he was committing to Clemson.

Earlier in this thread I said that I thought we were out at this point, which was sometime back. I got plenty of flack for it, but never wavered. I always said, that the longer this played out, the worse it looked for UT, and 2 months later, I was right.

Uh, he stayed committed through 2 coaching changes, until Dooley basically blew him off for a while before he actually started recruiting him.

That's not even close to true. Both coaching staff's showed him attention, but the second that his 1 situation became more important to fix than years of true neglect within the football program, that's when he realized that he's expendable. Every player is expendable honestly, and it takes those dedicated to something bigger than themselves bringing everything they have everyday for this program to succeed, and honestly, if we don't have those type of players, we will never get back to where we need to be as a program.

:good!: +1

Seems you will find any excuse to blame Dooley. Just like blaming him for Washington committing to Bama. We never led for him and McClain got his big boy feelings hurt cause we wont spend every waking minute telling him how UT will collapse without him at TE.

His coach said that wasn't the case. Both he and the McLains bear much of the fault for the miscommunication. UT had tried to make contact with him before he completely flew off the handle.

I would agree that it was a mistake IN RETROSPECT not to make him a bigger priority... but good grief. In Dooley's situation it should have been understandable.

Hopefully if he sticks with Clemson it was a positive choice where he simply found something he liked better. Clemson also isn't a difficult drive from Fayetteville so that could factor in.

Gotcha.:good!:

Is he a midterm guy? If not, then I think there's still a chance we work our way back into it with him, unless we only wanted him for OL and not TE.

This afternoon on SportsTalk Hyams reported that Eric MacLain had decommitted from Tennessee but he believes Tennessee is in his Top “2 or 3" and will likely end up here. (No Joke, he actually said this today).

Welp, may as well scan my Gray's Sports Almanac for Signing Day 2011 news to find out that MacLain's LOI was faxed elsewhere, especially if Hyams said he thinks Eric will still come here.

Took home TE MVP honors at The VTO Sports Elite 100 Camp & Combine this past weekend.

Does this mean we get our shorts back?

im guessing we get him back. he is being a baby though and wants us to earn him back. if we get other guys higher rated, his plan will backfire but I think he still truly wants to come to Tennessee.
