This kid is drama. Not long ago when the crap about dooley not getting in touch with him, his coach said he was crying about it. Big baby. Hope we get Rome instead.

Honestly guys, 9-10 months. Some variables to consider:

1. Sweeney goes 4-8, gets canned and some recruits bail.
2. Clemson does admirably, staff turnover creates doubt.
3. Clemson lands Rome which affects MacLain's mood.
4. Eric decides he is just playing around with UT because of perceived neglect.
5. The wind changes directions.
6. Jimmy Hyams changes his report and announces he's going to Clemson. Then we know he's coming here.

5.2 40? And he still thinks hes going to be a TE at the next level? Maybe at Clemson but OL run 40 faster than that in the SEC.

Good post, especially #6:eek:lol:

I for one am surprised MacLain committed to Clemson, but it's a long ways until signing day, and he's another 17 year old kid that changes his mind like the weather. Either way, we will be fine with or without him. I believe this staff can and will recruit the players they need with a year under their belt.

I don't put a ton of stock into HS 40 times...but that is pretty slow...wonder what he would have ran at 265 lbs?

I honestly don't think losing Maclain is a big deal if he is dead set on playing TE in college...

“It truly felt like a real family with Coach Phil Fulmer’s staff,” Maclain explained. “We lost that with Lane Kiffin but his staff reached out to me and we still pushed through it because I was still playing for the University of Tennessee, that was the most important thing.”

“The third change in three years was just a little too much to handle,” Maclain said. “Coach Derek Dooley definitely made me feel welcomed on my last visit, it’s definitely not his fault at all. He told me that I was their top recruit and top priority.”

“The only reason we went for a visit was out of respect for Coach Dan Brooks,” Maclain said. “I fell in love with the University of Clemson. I always saw myself being a Tennessee Volunteer. I grew up loving the school, but it had a lot to do with the stability that Fulmer and his staff brought to the program. Once that was gone, something was never the same.”

“I fell in love with the University of Clemson."

But apparently not enough to bother learning the name of the school

Billy Napier will lock it down, lock this thread so we can keep up with the important players IMO.

A lot could change with this kid before NSD. I would like to see him wearing the power T on his helmet next year.

This kid is lying. The EXPERTS in the KNOW here have most definitely established that it was all Dooley's fault. I can't believe the kid would lie like that and say that Dooley did a good job recruiting him.

I know he is committed to Clemson but whatever happened to this guy? I wonder if the staff is still after him?
