I agree, we need great players supporting orange and white at the combines.. It helps gives the program a positive image.

According to this....he's only visiting schools that will consider him/play him at TE. Also says he's lost 25 lbs to better mold his body to a TE frame.

Sab, LV, Eric, or anyone who's seen him play...does this guy sort of remind you of a hybrid Jason Finlayson/Cottam-type TE. I forget which Cottam was the bigger, more physical one (Jeff?), but he reminds me a lot of those two former UT TE's.

Finlayson was a beast to tackle and a great blocking TE but also had great hands, IIRC, and would catch darn near everything thrown to him. He just wouldn't pick up many YAC's.

And (Jeff?) Cottam seemed to have a similar skill set/body type to MacLain that kind of made him a "tweener"--OL/TE.

Thoughts?

MacLain will be a Vol and always has been. He is going to hold up for a few more months because he got his feelings hurt. Anybody that is concerned about MacLain committing anywhere but Tennessee is worrying for nothing.

Yawn. Sorry but I have the feeling this will get really old before NSD. I can't blame the guy for getting as much out of the experience as he can but if this continues I would go after other targets at the position and move on.

Don't think I'm saying to heck with this kid because I think he ends up a Vol in the end. I just don't want to put all our eggs in one basket and be disappointed if he flip flops again NSD. It is early though so let's see how this plays out.

Honestly, He would be a nice addition. But I hope with the way we use Stocker this year, we catch the eye of Jay Rome. Kid is crazy good. Anyone know how the recruiting is going for him at all?

We are in his top 5 and he is going to visit soon. He is thought to be a Clemson lead since his dad played there.

Dude, he's changed his leader more times than he's probably changed his underwear. I think it's safe to say now that he's not really leaning anywhere in particular, he's just enjoying the attention.

LV seemed to be responding to someone's post on Jay Rome, not MacLain. Jay Rome's dad played for Clemson and briefly in the NFL and people assume he's going to follow suit there.

I think you're right that he's enjoying the attention right now. But like a couple other guys I think MacLain has a good chance of still being a Vol come NSD.
