"I think at first it was a lack of communication (that resulted in the de-commitment) and then just I needed to get a feel for the family (at Tennessee), and that's what I kind of lost with the former staff (under Phil Fulmer getting fired)---I kind of got it back with (Lane) Kiffin."
"I've just got to find it again if that's where I'm going to end up," MacLain added about the Volunteers. "But we're going to make sure that we've got the 'Cinderella Shoe' fit."
MacLain is making an extensive tour of multiple campuses over the next several days, as he's taking advantage of his Spring Break to get out and about.
"While we're on Spring Break right now (this week), we're going to Virginia Tech and then down to Knoxville (for a Tennessee visit) and then to Clemson to wrap it up, but over the summer I'm going to Penn State's camp, Duke's camp, and Tennessee's camp---we're going all over the place," he said.
While clearly Tennessee is still in play for MacLain, he says he's still very much open to several different programs.
