11' GA TE Jay Rome

It's hard to read that article and not think Rome is going to UGA. Most have assumed so for a long time though. I'm just glad that we have done well enough to be in his final two. However, I no longer see us getting Rome.

our two biggest offensive needs in this class, aside from whatever oline we can get, were a speedy rb and a dominant TE. and now I think we're getting neither.. thank god for bray and co.

You don't think Clear fits the bill?

there are 6 tight ends in the rivals top 100. one of those has the best chance to be a dominant tight end. Could be someone come from lower ranking to be one but not likely.

the 6 are:

# 21 Nick O'Leary
# 38 Austin Seferian-Jenkins Washington Commit
# 45 Jay Rome
# 48 Jace Amaro Texas Tech Commit
# 51 Eric MacLain Clemson commit
# 81 Ben Koyack Notre Dame commit

best chance at a "dominant tight end", this group IMO

You think Rome ends up at Georgia Larry? Based on that article on ESPN, it seems a surprise if he's anything but a dawg on NSD.

What about O'Leary? I doubt we have a shot with him?

Matt Milton may move to TE. Could be great.

Could he run block though? I could see him as a solid pass catcher, but asking a former WR to be a good run blocking TE is asking a lot. What Tennessee really needs is an effective run blocking TE. That is why Clear is such a big priority. Heading into next year they dont have one on the roster. Rivera can make some plays in the passing game but he is a very poor run blocker.

I haven't heard much on O'leary but last time I checked he was most likely staying in state, We could get Fulse after his JUCO/Prep stint he could be very good

yes on Rome.

haven't seen O'Leary's name linked with us so I guess not

they don't believe he has a frame to put on necessary weight for TE..

From seeing him, I thought the same thing. Definitely doesn't look like a TE to me or a future one at that, unless you are lining him up in some certain spread passing situations where a TE might spread out wide.

I can't remember where I saw it, but somebody on VN said Daniel Hood (6-4, 275) would be moving to TE next year. He was a TE in HS.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong.

Biggest offensive needs are offensive line (which we will get) and another tight end (Cam Clear). Other than that, defense should be the biggest priority.
