'11 GA S Brian Randolph

If the GA assists with coaching the position (safety in this example) then I would imagine they would be addressed as Coach, and not graduate assistant. They are, after all, coaches de facto, they simply aren't paid the same salaries or listed as official coaches. At least that's how I took the comments, Sirmon is just doing what he's been doing all season. You call him a GA, the players respectfully address him as Coach.

Who knows, maybe I'm wrong and there's actually a massive conspiracy behind this that recruits are leaking to us on accident as the coaches make VN accounts to post in attempts to try and cover up the moves pre-NSD. Probably not though.

bro, I realize that.

the guys who interviewed the kid even went to double check and ask around about him maybe being made a coach.

thats why it was relevant. the incoming recruits would be privy to positive staff moves alot sooner than you or I

Right I'm not bashing you, I'm just saying that I don't see where it was verified that he was an official coach, that's not what the writer's quote seemed to say. He can be the safeties coach and a GA. It just says that he is the safety's coach, not that he is an official new coach. I realize that the recruits are more up to date than fans, however I think this potentially is a misunderstanding more than anything else.

According to Lane (I believe) UT has a running backs coach as well, but in actuality it's just a GA (and supposedly Chaney, but I've heard its more the GA).

The conspiracy comment wasn't directed at anyone interested in this specific thing, just the whole craziness of everyone's paranoia over the coaching statuses as a whole.

Depends on how you read the quotes I suppose.

What happened here?

He never got it. I received information that Every said that on Memphis radio and it was backed up by Hubbs on TOS. That's why I posted it. My apologies to all because I hate giving out false information, but I thought it would be true. Alls I learned coming from these last few days is that Rivals ratings are awful and that I won't listen to anything Barry Every says again.

This is what Hubbs said today on the situation:

I apologize for my part in creating the confusion/issue. Here's what Barry told me regarding Randolph on Monday.

Brian Randolph had one of the most productive two-way seasons of any player
in the country. Unfortunately last year when he was evaluated in person at a game by the SE Recruiting Analyst he did not perform up to the hype and that hurt his initial ranking. I think he has gradually worked his way back from a shoulder injury and proved that he can become a difference maker from the defensive side of the ball. Look for him to jump to a 5.7 and make a bigger than double digit jump in both the position ranking and state rankings.

These rankings are a complete joke. It's looking more and more like a prime time to abandon the Rivals ship. I keep seeing the excuse that rivals hasn't been able to evaluate these guys. WTF does that even mean? Go evaluate them, that's your job.

Agreed. Kid lives right near Atlanta, one of the biggest cities in the SouthEast and they can't come out and evaluate him? Rivals haven't evaluated him in over a year. Complete joke. I am not huge on stars because I know that he will be the same player with 5 stars or 2 stars, but I feel for the kids. They work hard all year and when they don't get certain awards/recognition that is obviously deserved then it is just like a slap in the face. I know how it feels. Isn't fun. I can't wait until Randolph is a 2x All SEC performer. Prove the doubters.

This is only good for us, as he will come here with something to prove, and we know he can play. Same with a lot of these kids.

I agree. Nothing wrong with having players with chips on their shoulders. They can prove to the rest of the SEC they aren't just some 3* scrubs. They can play.

Complete joke.. Haven't evaluated him in over a year while knowing of the shoulder injury the year before and then seeing the stats being posted this year? No evaluation in a year?! That kind of hurts me in a way to be honest. Man I bet Randolph is pissed!..

So what are the negatives, according to the recruiting sites, that keep Randolph from getting his 4th star?
