'10 WA QB Garrett Grayson

Let's offer now so we can say we have a QB. My god we are never going to win again if we don't get someone now! All these guys are leaving us! They can't play worth shI11 but lets still offer them. This is bullcrap for alot of you on here who's freaking out. There is a reason these guys don't have offers. We will get ours in due time, chill out flaming like little girls!

Si senor.. You read my mind, minus the 'little girls' part. Not all of us are irrational nutjobs...not all the time, anyway.

Uh yeah, you are the one with all the !!!!!! so about that are we having a case of the Wednesdays?:p

Why not, Sab?

They staff appears to be slow playing him + they can afford to wait. He's not a guy they appear to be goo-goo about. I think after this initial crop of guys are all gone they will sit back and evaluate some guys this fall before settling on a guy. I think they really want to see Newton in action too.

What if we miss on Jesse? Who do we go after?

A guy seemingly this excited about UT must hate these slow play moves. It would drive me nuts. I'd want to be settled going into my senior HS season. That's especially true if I felt I was good enough at a place I wanted to be and knew I was close to getting the nod.

Signed Andrew Hendrix, Chase Rettig, Tommy Rees and Barry Brunetti.

That's why I think CLK may offer. He has to see that slow playing these kids has cost him, so I think if we miss on Scroggins, Grayson could get an offer sooner than later. Then there would still be one more QB spot to fill after evaluating some talent during the season.

I agree with sab as far as what coaches are most likely thinking but wish it was not so. Not that it is not a logical move at this point. Just not the move I want but nobody pays me millions to make these decisions so I will trust them.

Have the coaches not realized that "slow playing" these QB's isnt working at all? You would think they would realize that the fact that Jesse is even considering USC means he isnt afraid of competition at his position at all. We should have offered Rettig at least as soon as BC did....but we "slow played" and missed on the last QB in this class who had enough "name recognition" to bring skill players to The Hill as well,

I was thinking somewhat along the same lines. However, I think he gets an offer immediately if Scroggins chooses USC. If by some miracle Scroggins chooses UT, I think we hold off on other QB offers until part of this season has played out. I have a feeling that our staff is very interested in what Cameron Newton does this year.
+1...Cam or trying to switch Brunetti...maybe Rettig too, but I think they like Brunetti more than they let on (just didn't want to blow it with Scroggins)

I don't think you see us go after anyone specifically initially.

I agree. there is no hurry if it can't be someone that the stars at otehr positions know a lot about and can help bring them in. Otherwise, no rush. The only advantage right now is recruiting momentum. If a kid can't do that, no need to rush an offer...

The rules of the hunt will change once Scroggins finishes this decision marathon.

Kiffin said in his interview with T. Basillo, today, that they thought (while he was at USC), by his 2nd year, Leinart was probably going to transfer (BJ Coleman style) to a lower college level school...cause he wasn't all that good in practice. He said that he just barely beat Matt Cassell. He got to start against Auburn (who was picked as a preseason No.1...like Florida is this year), and wooped 'em 23-0. The rest is history. He said some players just don't show much in practice, but when the lights come on, so do they. Sounds like Crompton is the antithesis of that. He also said Troy Palam-whatever ( :) ) was only a 1-2 star HS kid out of Oregon and the ONLY reason he got recruited was that he was a relative of someone on the staff. VERY telling, it is! So, for everyone who puts all of this supreme confidence in our staff's ability to evaluate...while it IS indeed better than ours and those of recruiting analysts, they are very susceptible to missing on a player BIG TIME. Something to keep in mind.

Kind of makes you wonder about our roster this spring, and what might have been if BJ had exercised a little bit more patience.

No chance Heaps decommits.
+1. It's obvious how significant of a role his faith played in his decision.

I have and still do think Jesse is right there with Heaps if not better. Heaps still looks like a frail, pimple-faced 13yr old to me...just my opinion. Both Jesse and Rettig look more physically mature, and ready for the rigors of SEC play than Heaps...especially Brunetti, even though he is on the short side.

He was a troll.

Reread my post. I told you he didn't meet with the coaching staff, right? I was correct there. I did say that he LOVED the school, stadium, and everything else. But if I'm a recruit...guess what I want? TO MEET THE GUYS THAT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH RECRUITING! He felt snubbed in that regard. Because he didn't meet any shot-callers, he felt that the trip was not as productive as he wished. Doesn't mean he didn't love the university, the program, conference, etc etc etc. Read please.

There was another guy. He was the troll btw. I am sure people are confused. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I believe they are referring to WestcoastFB. :hi:

Truly sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm just trying to pass along info that I hear from my players who know him.

I know. I believe you. Let the players know and tell Grayson the Volnation wants hims. If you read the thread it is clear most do. This is a high level competitive program. And if he got the call to visit then he is on their radar. Is there video from any of these camps? Let me know if you find some. Video of Spring practice etc. If you can find that I will help with the PR. :hi:
