It's happened before. It will happen again.
In general or with Meyer? Everyone will make their mistakes in recruiting. I'm sure Meyer has. Was just curious if you were sighting a specific example. I will say this. Recruiting websites make a lot of mistake in their ratings and judgement. Rarely does a player with a five star recruiting completely suck. The most recent I've seen that was decent at best was Vidal Hazelton. Even he managed to do alright. I just think Newton could manage a game. Serviceable at the very least.
What? Was there anything in my post that didnt make sense?
I don't know if he's had a recruiting bust yet at QB, but I'm sure he's had them at other positions. Edwin Herbert looks on track for it.
"We're not going to do a lot of visiting, but we know we are going to visit Dan Mullen," said Cecil (Cam's dad). "We owe him that much. We're going to Mississippi State the Saturday after Thanksgiving. That's something we've been planning for a long time."
"There are about three other schools that we are looking at that I would rather not divulge at this time. Some schools from the Big 12 and the SEC," said Cecil. "We're just going to talk about all of that when the time is right. A lot of it is going to depend on what Cameron's post-season schedule looks like. We have to think about all of that. We know we won't have a lot of time."
If Cam was a cancer aka coach killer aka not good enough aka not coachable aka trouble then why is Mullen hard after him????
Mullen has seen first hand this kid's talent and mental preparation. If he didn't think the guy was worth a second chance or an immediate impact player he wouldn't be after him.
If he wants to come to TN you take him without question.
I don't believe JUCO QBs do much for your program.
I also think it's funny that people drool over Newton's measurables.
Shhh, don't tell Sab
That's been said for weeks. It's nothing new. I've already said I would be happy with whatever decision the coaches make. But the decision hasn't already been made as you've suggested.
Plus I totally disagree with your idea that the coaches aren't bringing in either guy with the thought process that he can play immediately and have success. If they do not believe that to be the case, then they won't take either. It makes zero sense to sign a JuCo QB unless you expect him to have an immediate impact and likely start. It's a waste of a scholarship if you already have 3 guys on the roster for the spring and think your starter is going to come out of that group.
What you are suggesting about JuCo QBs makes no sense.
